Hi, I just want to say how informative and helpful your videos are. I'm a mom (not a teacher) of two and after watching my niece struggle with reading through the pandemic I decided to look for resources to help my children. I've been working with my kindergartener every evening and he absolutely loves the types of activities you suggest! It is so cool to watch him learn and have those "aha" moments. It's like he's discovering the secret code. Thanks for all you do!

Have you had trouble finding a way to group students who can’t read yet? If so, type “trouble” in the comments.

How do you stop the student from counting syllables versus words in a sentence? If I say: I LOVE POPCORN. My son tells me 4 bc he counts “popcorn” as 2 words (counts syllables). So one syllable word sentences are fine. He does fine w syllable drills. Thank you!!

Hi Ginger! I'd do a visual drill with him to show that there are no spaces in between "pop" and "corn." First, he could circle and count the words to see that there are 3 words. Then, afterwards, you could do an oral drill to count syllables.

Hello, this is my first year as a teacher for Grade 2. I used to give older students. The problem that I faced today that when the students were reading some words, I discovered that they don't know the letters! What shall I do?

I would say before they blend the word, have them say the letter and letter sounds!
