I've learned Fusha-Arabic and can use it pretty well. Now I wanted to top up my language skills by adding some comprehension knowledge. These videos seem to be perfect!! I don't care about people who disagree in the comments, because it's a fact that too many people talk when they actually shouldn't. I advise everybody to learn Fusha, which is more beautiful than all Arabic dialects, but after that, it makes sense to learn how dialects work. I speak several languages, so I know what I'm talking about. I don't understand other Italian dialects, but as soon as I comprehend the way their dialect works, it becomes intelligible to me, as well. Anyhow, great videos!

You should use سوف Not رح Because I think سوف موجودة في اللغة العربية الفصحي But رح موجودة فقط في بعض الدول..

Thank you for your input. We teach dialect because no Arabs in Jordan, Palestine, Syria, or Lebanon speak MSA. We gave the MSA only for comparison between the MSA and the dialect in Jordan. Thank you again.

Is there a big difference between Levantine arabic and Gulf arabic?
@CGEJordan
@CGEJordan 8 жыл бұрын
Good question. The differences vary depending on the region of the Gulf you are talking about. Yemeni is farther from the Levantine dialect than is the Saudi dialect. There are also at least two major dialects within Saudi Arabia. In general, a Levantine speaker will find it much easier to cross-over into Gulf dialects than a North African or Egyptian speaker would. The biggest differences have to do with two areas: 1) The pronunciation of some of the Arabic letters and 2) most-used verbs and auxiliary verbs as well as some very common nouns that will be different. But, once you get passed the surface vocabulary, you will find that they share a lot in common.

@A. A. lol this is crazy to receive a reply to my comment 3/4 years later. I improved my arabic since then and I speak gulf arabic only but it's still cool to be able to understand levantine arabic dialects.

can i ask..when we have to add the letter ب in the present tense because sometime it is not added although in ammiyah
@CGEJordan
@CGEJordan 6 жыл бұрын
Basically, the letter ب is going to placed on the front of stand-alone present tense verbs. But, if you place a future particle or a helping verb in front of a present tense verb, then the ب will drop out and be replaced by the typical MSA prefixes. This is explained very well in my book, The Most Used Verbs in Spoken Arabic: Jordan & Palestine. See the purchase link in the description.

Shukran! One question; i have been learning Fusha arabic and will work in the West bank, should i learn the spoken language or are they capable to understand me if i speak Fusha?
@CGEJordan
@CGEJordan 8 жыл бұрын
Many, if not most, will be able to understand you if you were to speak in fusha. But, there will be more moments of frustration and you will have to repeat sentences quite often, I imagine. Also, you will feel diconnected from them and they will feel the same because fusha is not the language of the heart -- it is almost never used for conversation or daily interactions. If you are planning to be there for more than a couple of months, we recommend that you work to learn the Spoken dialect. The 101 Most Used Verbs in Spoken Arabic: Jordan & Palestine is your best resource for learning the dialect. You can purchase it on Amazon (link is in the video details section).
