This was great, Sarah. Very helpful, and I would LOVE to see more examples of musical theatre writing. Like how do you start before the script? A script looks so finished and final, but I want to see the notes and plot beats and research and stuff that people would need before diving into the script, too. Just a suggestion :) Great work, mate.

@@spencerryan01 I inserted shape, rectangle, filled black. Sent to back so textbox will go Infront. Add text to textbox and colour text white. Hope that helps. Line them up with the rulers.

excellent video, Sarah! I have many movie projections behind my live stage action, would you suggest putting Projection: blah blah blah. in the stage direction space? It's hard to find this on the net thank you.

Hi AB Crane, this really depends on if it's a part of the script, or a part of the director's creation of the piece. I have seen directors add projections to shows that don't have any mention of it in the script, therefore it is a director's choice and addition to use that element of stage craft and tell the story in that way. Could this piece be performed without the projections? If so, I would not include it, as you may limit the show's ability to be performed based on the technical gear and capabilities of certain groups or spaces. I hope that makes at least a little bit of sense. As a writer and director, it can be hard to separate those two roles when writing, but it is important not to impose directory thing onto the script. HOWEVER, if it IS vital to the telling of the story, and you really do want it done this way in any interpretation, I would definitely include it. If the projection only says a few things every once in a while, I would add it in the stage directions the way you have suggested. If it is changes very frequently all the time, I would treat the projector as a character. But I'[m pretty sure you're on the money. Trust your gut and good luck!

I hate Courier. It's a truly ugly typeface. We don't use typewriters anymore; the thousands of typefaces we have available allow us to break free of the tyranny of the typewriter! Also: 4:48 Veronica's lyric "WE WERE SO TINY HAPPY AND *_SHINNY"?!_* Like the game?! That should probably be "shiny". Whoever typed this was _very_ sloppy.

Such a great job with this video. I see you've written your script with word doc? Could you use either final draft or word doc to write musical scripts? I know the majority of non musical scripts it's final draft?
