What do you mean by "section break" and how do we do it?

NOT THAT SIMPLE and not a very good explanation either, because it could lead to a disaster. Sorry. How was your "pre-formated Word document before conversion"? And what about its Table of Content (soooo essential) derivative from the titles in Word correctly done first? Unfortunately, not many people explain that ESSENTIAL part as priority.
