This is a drill that adults should give a try, too!

This is good stuff. I recently fell and at 44 years old, the drills I did over 20 years ago triggered muscle memory and prevented serious injuries. I might mention to anyone interested that tucking the chin is a huge element to tumbling/breaking falls.

I'm really frustrated that I can't do it. I think maybe I get scared.😢I can't lift my legs over my head. Any advice?

Try getting someone else to help or give you a push maybe. I have the exact same problem. Maybe face your head up and back so you feel like your already flipped. I don't really know I'm not an expert just throwing stuff out there. Let me know if you got it now and what helped.

My problem is I do it but I don't go in a relatively straight line. Like when I have the left leg up near the hand and do the roll I end up going too far to the right and I don't end up in a seating position.

im doing this at home, but i think i would be better going to the park doing it lmao. Im an adult who didn't get into taking care of myself until now at 25, so i want to find ways to move my body that are fun and help loosen up my spine into older age, and this is where im starting! its a lot of fun, and feels great to progress.

Hey y'all love the vids, I teach martial arts to kids and a lot of these are super helpful. I seem to have trouble getting some of my students to "pull the trigger" on the roll. Its like they're scared to do it and often times they flop to the side instead of rolling foward. Any advice you can give me to help them?
@agastyajagdhari84424 жыл бұрын
Idk if it is still a problem. Make them do this roll and this will build up the confidence of most of ur students. It might not be expert advice but it really helped me

What's the difference between the left or right shoulder roll when the left leg is at the front?
@frontenac5083 Жыл бұрын
Didn't you just answer your own question?
@wojciechmruk3539 Жыл бұрын
@@frontenac5083 No, I mean the purpose of the exercise. Maybe one is better than the other, maybe one is injury-prone, or faster, or "more correct" and maybe it doesn't matter. I'm just wondering.
@timothydwyer49069 ай бұрын
It's training for a self defense situation. You don't always get to choose how someone pushes you from behind on if you fall forward for some reason. Sometimes you might be falling to the left and sometimes to the right so if your body can do it both ways off the lead leg your muscle memory instinctively will go to roll off of shoulder your leaning towards. It helps prevent injury this way.
@wojciechmruk35399 ай бұрын
@@timothydwyer4906 Thanks, so as I understand it, there is no anatomical preference. Regardless of which leg is in front, we can perform a forward roll through the left and right shoulder.
