I just found your channel. You are a good teacher for long arm techniques. This made total sense to me, and I am going to try this. I am new to long arm quilting. I am hoping you have more videos like this one.

Great demo on ribbon candy. Can you give some tips on quilting that design going vertical from top to bottom on a quilt border please.

Thank you! When I'm quilting them vertically, like on a long border, I'll stop in the ditch prior to advancing the quilt. Then pick up where I left off after advancing.

@@JoannaMarsh - My question may not have been worded properly. The video looks like you are quilting horizontally left to right. I was asking for a tip when quilting a border that goes around a panel for example. I do ok going left to right but when I get to the corner and have to quilt it vertically it throws me off.

@@sandan2358 Practice makes perfect! There really aren't any tricks to doing this vertically, as opposed to horizontally--you'll still need to watch your guidelines or boundaries (border) and scale the ribbon candy to fit. If you can practice quilting them vertically, as opposed to horizontally, that will help you a lot. I know it can feel awkward switching the orientation. Hope that helps!

How do you keep them so even in shape
@JoannaMarsh9 ай бұрын
Just lots of practice! When I first started quilting, i would sometimes spend hours just quilting the same shape to make sure it was even and similar to the others. Drawing the shape or motif over and over again also helps!
