Invest the $8.00 and buy a BANANA SLICER.. this will insure your slices are all the same size and it will speed up your processing time; as you can slice a whole med sized banana all at once.

Thanks, but not worth the investment. We wouldn't use it enough.

@@KrisAndLarry Well if you dont do banana's that often.. $8.00 better spent else where.. I do 3 full trays everyweek.. sometimes double layers... so $8.00 was a good investment, and I can use it slice up strawberries, and other soft fruit like peaches/pears.

If you don't have an affiliate link yet, click on mine in the description box... it doesn't change the price and gives a bit back to our homestead too. ;)

The main thing is you get out what you put in. I mistakenly bought bananas that were not quite ripe. They came our dried fine, but eating them it was NOT sweet.. and more 'chalky'.. lesson I learned.

Hello Kris. I have a freeze dryer in layaway and I can hardly wait to get mine. Love the idea of the bananas. When my kids were growing up we dehydrated bananas my kids loved them. This helps me a lot. This is a very neat collaboration I have already learned a great deal with these freeze dryers. I hope you habe a blessed day. Wendy🙏🏻🌎

Hey Wendy! We are part of the collab and also are dropping freeze dry Friday videos every Friday on our channel!! You will love your dryer!!

@@KrisAndLarry I will be looking forward to those videos I really want to learn how to use it when I finally get it. We have the orchard and it would save me so much time instead of freezing and canning. Your videos and the collaboration videos will help me so much. Thank you so much Kris

Hi, great video. One question for long term storage? After freeze dried process, can these be sealed in a vacuum sealer and stored for a number of years? Thank you!
@KrisAndLarry7 ай бұрын
We do not vacuum seal as those clear bags tend to still let oxygen and moisture in. We use mylar bags with oxygen absorbers for long term storage.

How long did you leave them in what temp
@KrisAndLarry11 ай бұрын
I let my machine auto choose the time. I alway add an additional 4 hours. As for temp, are you asking about the tray heat? I have mine set at the harvest Right standard - 125 degrees.

Do you dip the bananas in lemon juice or something to keep them from turning brown or do you just do it quickly? Thanks, Jeff
@KrisAndLarry11 ай бұрын
Just do it quickly. (We do dip apples in lemon juice when we freeze dry them however)

@KrisAndLarry10 ай бұрын
I use the standard setting. So the machine does everything automatically.

The Machine as a pre-set. I'll check what it says the next time that I get started.
