The words “DIFF OIL” are embossed on the bottom of the differential oil drain pan, right beside the differential oil drain plug. You may need a rag to wipe away accumulated grease and other debris to see the embossing.

Thanks Verdayne!!! Yeah buddy, I know you can do it! The hardest part is getting started and of course it takes a lot longer than it normally would because you're doing it for the first time.. just take your time and follow the steps and you will be just fine. Let me know how it works out if you decide to tackle some of this. Leave a NEW comment though if you have a question, so I get notified again, otherwise I will miss it. Thanks for comment buddy:-)

How do you drain the front differential gear oil from the front differential on a 2017 Subaru legacy
@hurstysgarage Жыл бұрын
Hey Steven, it should be pretty close to this action...but I do not have access to this year Subaru, so I cannot confirm. I do hope that you got it figured out though. Best of luck!
@christophertreatmuniec15842 ай бұрын
does this apply to a 09 outback? the video was perfect.
@hurstysgarageАй бұрын
Hey Christopher, the general outline of steps is pretty much Universal to changing out the differential fluid... the only thing that might differ is make dang sure that you verify that the gear oil is the same viscosity and the fluid capacity might change just a bit. But remember this is just my opinion and is in by no means professional advice, so always consult a qualified technician before performing this action. Thanks for watching!!!

Is it integrated into the transmission? Do I have to change the front differential oil separately or is it the same as transmission oil change?

Here are the four Subaru oil compartments: 1. Engine oil (and filter) 2. Transaxle oil (and filter) 3. Differential oil -front 4. Differential oil -rear

What is the part number for the front differential drain plug gasket? Link to where you bought it? Great video.
@hurstysgarage Жыл бұрын
Hey Chris...its benn a little bit now since I got that part, but I believe that it was from my local Subaru dealer, because they actually were as cheap on that as anywhere else! Plus, I wanted to do it right away, and there was no wait time:-) Thank you for the kind words, and sooo glad this could help you! Sorry I was not able to answer your question with a link, because my Subaru dealer charges a shipping fee to purchase online which would negate any savings you might get from purchasing local.

If the vehicle is manual transmission. Your going to find the transmission dipstick where you would find the differential dip stick on a automatic. That is what he meant. So “op” is partially wrong. IMO your video is good.

@kstory9082 You’ve just shown your ignorance on this. Keep your mouth shut if you don’t know what you’re talking about. This vehicle has a seperate CVT and differential.
