"alright, I'm gonna try it today, frontside air" - get to the miniramp - do the 5 stalls I know "Ok that's enough miniramp for today"
@TheLightisGood2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for this rundown. I’m surprised that he didn’t talk about how to pop out of the ramp. I’m confused about how they olie and do other tricks above the coping. How perfect that I found this video…I was actually just watching a short of Andy Mac putting it together at Linda Vista skate park in San Diego and I thought, “man, how do they come out of the vert like that?” Not that I had never asked that, but I am asking again because I really want to skate vert some day. Skated from age 12 to about 23 and after I first tried riding on a vert ramp at at 13 I had grande respect for these lads as they are making this very difficult and dangerous task look so easy and glorious.

For those of you asking, you don't need to ollie or bonk off the coping. Just make sure to pump UP as you're going up the ramp, and pull back on the board. Your momentum does the rest.

He exsplained the how to grab the board and such but I want to know like how you go from flying out the vert to coming back down it instead of landing on top

Beuge Water just don't lean forward lean like back but not to back so you do a backflip just enough to fly up and back in

Anyone struggling with this trick, learn early Indy grab fs 180’s by literally going up a small ramp grabbing your board and using your front shoulder to help you get the rotation. You’ll look a bit stupid when you start but don’t worry, you’ll soon work your way up the ramp.

Yeah these days most kids are all backside,ironacally I feel safer with the front side for that reason u see more and for longer with the front side turn I can use both eyes and it allows me to really use my peripheral vision and I was able to do a front side to back Ollie oop really easy and an amped one to ,after 37 years I'm getting my frontsides in shape to try it again after a car accident ,things are going good so far not in any rush,but thanks for clearing that up its the grab between the legs that makes it stink bug,been so long I don't remember how I did em,als climbers,piece out.

Key focus that he didn't iterate on...Watch his left arm (leading arm). He throws it behind him really hard, causing him to look down the transition and spot that landing. Took me forever to figure this part out.

it happens automatically when you're doing a 180

I never really thought about it until you mentioned the trailing arm. Personally I didn't have that problem. Mine was with my front wheels hitting first, and me nose diving down to the flat lol. It was really aggravating until I corrected it.

I know what you mean it. Saying someone has talent does not dis credit them for their abilities it just means this person has a knack for it and they pick up on it quicker but they still work hard on their tricks whether It be learning how to do the trick or improving their stlye.

When doing a FS air, you do not necessarily have to ollie when you approach the coping, right? Do you just kinda wheelie and let the back wheels bounce off the coping? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@henkinouno Thats the thing about skateboarding though. Heres my trick tip for fs airs. Skate every day, skate transition often. Try one, you'll fail. Try another until you figure it out. Keep doing em until you get them really good haha.

Good advice, I'm 62 and I have my own pipes I skate every night, 50 percent of the reason of learning skating is for a front side air, to transfer to surfing.

If anyone could help me with a question that would be great. When you do airs should you try to bonk your back wheels off the coping if it's a pool coping? I can almost do backside airs in a 13 ft half pipe but I'm scared of I try in a pool I'll just a hit the coping and fly off
@keegan62988 жыл бұрын
Kind of like my question mate, I'd like to know if you need to pop your board
@aminto94488 жыл бұрын
Chris Keegan hey i actually learned backside airs since i made that comment. if you're trying to learn them i'd suggest taking these steps: in a bowl or halfpipe that is at least like 8-9 ft tall and has a little vert start doing kick turns and grabbing melon. then once that feels easy just do a little hop at the top of your turn. its best to start with more of a carve then as you get a little more comfortable you can go up more straight and lift your front wheels a little before hopping. once you've practiced that and feel comfortable with them. try just bonking the off the coping a little bit and using that instead of hopping as hard. make sure you're comfortable with you're little hops before trying to go over coping. then when you can do small airs over coping start trying to go more straight and wait a little longer to grab. eventually your little airs will turn into big stylish airs. if you have any questions feel free to ask. i was so happy when i learned bs airs and i want everyone else to have that sensation.

Hold your horses, tony Alva did it stinkbug when he invented it. Don't be forcing kids into trying out tuck knees before stinkbug, I don't even give two shits if anyone thinks I'm wrong. I didn't live in the 80s, or any of these kids that think tres and kickflips are "new school," almost every trick we know have been around since the 70s, the 80s, and the 90s. Geez, one of my hommie still does stinkbugs.
@chandlersieverts91499 жыл бұрын
yo barry I agree that stinkbug is a easier grab to try first. it will help people get the feel of airing out and coming back in. going tuck knee should be practiced because there are so many more options to do and different tweeks to push when grabbing tuck knee.
