🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:13 💡 Realistic expectations are key to successful trading; it typically takes four years or more to become a consistently profitable trader. 02:05 🔄 It's recommended to stick to a trading strategy for at least six months before considering a shift, as this provides necessary live market experience. 03:44 🚫 Trading under pressure is often counterproductive; having a job or studying while learning to trade can relieve financial stress and facilitate better decision making. 05:50 🛠️ At a certain point, it's beneficial to practice trading independently, meaning stop relying on other people's market breakdowns and start conducting your own analysis. 08:21 💼 Once you're consistently profitable, consider investing a small portion of your income into a prop firm challenge to test your skills under slightly more pressure. 08:36 📚 The path to success with prop firms can take time, with the speaker himself taking three years to find consistent success. 09:18 📈 Learning from failures and analyzing your trades, emotions, and beliefs is key to improving as a trader. 10:15 💰 Start with smaller challenges and gradually funnel profits from funded accounts into more funded accounts to increase payouts and confidence. 11:26 💼 Finding your comfort level with challenges is essential. Sticking to this comfort number will allow you to trade without fear, leading to better decision making. 13:02 🌟 Maintaining realistic expectations is critical. Quick success isn't sustainable. Spend time learning and gaining live market experience to ensure lasting success. Made with HARPA AI 👍 Upvote to improve video surfing

Not everyone takes 4 years. I guess it depends on hours, not years. The people who don’t have full time jobs and kids or whatever and have nothing but time, can be profitable very fast. Most people however usually take 2-3 years on average from the interviews that I saw from the funded traders interviews

I disagree. With ICT 2022 mentorship, everything changed. Now ppl can achieve this in a year or 6-8 month. The idea was the knowledge and a little bit of practice. Someone will say “Ow, but you need tape reading etc etc.” No, you need a really good mentor and a 4-5 month backtesting and forward testing and some weeks with demo trading. It’s not that complicated. Yea it’s hard when you don’t have the right knowledge.

10:30 "Do not quit your job if you get a big payout". Please everyone listen to this advice. I started studying trading in October 2021. I actually got funded for a 200k FTMO challenge around June 2022. At the time I was just using the standard retail trader strategies of support/resistance, candlestick patterns and so on. I thought because I had a few profitable months trading my own money/on demo, that I had everything down and was going to be consistently profitable from then on. I thought I had reached the summit of Mt Everest but I didn't realize that I had only reached the base camp. Anyway, I quit my job when I got my first payout. That was a huge huge mistake that caused me a lot of problems. I went through so much financial stress that I basically had a mental breakdown, I even went bald, nearly lost my house too. Honestly I think that time up until very recently was the worst period of my life. Don't get all excited and make rash decisions because you've had a few good months. In trading, success and positive emotions can ironically be more dangerous than failure if you don't have the proper mindset. So now I'm back working at another place. My salary can cover my expenses, so I'm out of immediate danger. I work usually 55-65 hours a week most weeks, so don't tell me you can't learn to trade working only 40 hours a week. I'm making it work. Plus now I'm studying ICT's material, it's making sense. I'll keep at it and I'll never give up. I think Rafael's timeline of 4 years is reasonable.

I mean like if you lose a challenge you shouldn't just buy another challenge and blow it up right away. I mean why can't you just take a few week off and reevaluate yourself and trade in a demo account, it is what I am doing right now after not passing the FTMO challenge (but got a free retry since I was $200 in profit in a 100k account), the account is currently on hold. And my results improved I lose less and I am 9k up in 3 days (demo account), without trading or risking that much, all while watching trading videos, backtesting, and reading psycholgy books.

Fortunately out of my 3 years of trading I took my time getting the skillset down after failing my first in 2021 and passed my 4th attempt after becoming profitable. Each attempt i fixed my previous mistakes and didnt immediately jump into a new challenge. Many have a misconceptions that if they just keep taking alot of challenges without actually doing the things needed to become profitable that they will get this big capital and make money. Instead master the skill and prove you have mastered it by passing and getting the payouts!
