Thank you for explaining this. I can finally go and take advantage of the firmware update.

Thanks for the feedback! funny thing is, I got a DIY Plaits recently that wasn't updates, and had to go back to my own video to remember how to do the updates ;)

Cheers for putting together this super helpful guide @rochefsky 🙏 Using a combo of braids and plaits currently and been considering buying a new oscillator for a smaller, more portable setup... but going to give this a whirl first!

great video! I tried putting a few different banks in 3, 4 and 5 but noticed that uploading a second bank to model 4 erases the one I installed on 3.. have you encountered this? maybe I should just try to reinstall the firmware and try again
@rochefsky8 ай бұрын
Oh weird - no I never encountered that… is it a clone or original MI? Hard to imagine that could be a software issue but worth a reinstall for sure

awesome video, looks like the dx sysex website is no longer? any idea how to access those sysex files now?

Ah - I see it does seem gone - there’s others for sure - but I haven’t searched recently. Here’s one that looked good: legacy-forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=95667.0

Hey man! Thanks for all the time and effort youve put into this. Im hoping you can help me out. Everything works fine all up until the very last second of loading the patches. The green lights flash up and down and then... I get all the lights flashing red. Thoughts?
@rochefsky19 күн бұрын
My experience is that the red lights flashing is caused by the volume being too high or too low… it takes some experimenting unfortunately to get it right. I haven’t seen it looking successful until the very end, so perhaps there is something wrong with the file you used or if your computer (source of playing the audio file) makes some other audio sound like a notification? Also possible that if it is a clone device, that it simply isn’t accepting the new firmware (I think Behringer Brains fits into that category)

@rochefsky Thank you for your reply! I greatly appreciate it! I'm going to give this another attempt today.

Question about the editor: If I want to replace just a FEW sounds of a bank, I understand it will create a new WAV file to load them all up, but does it just keep the stock ones in the slots I didn't touch? If not, is there a place to get the .sysx files of the individual stock sounds? Looking forward to some 6OP FM sounds on my plaits!
@rochefsky Жыл бұрын
Great question ... I looked when I created the video and could not find the stock sounds in a sysex file not could I find a list of what they were too rebuild it myself. As far as replacing only sooner sounds, I'll have to test that for sure but I'm expecting that not to work since it's a WAV file being loaded serially (in order from starry to finish) rather than a digital load using a program which loads an indexed set of sounds... Butt worth a test!

i'd love to see a video on a proper Plaits tuning and zeroing it out (default) settings - from beginning to the end. I followed some other stuff i found on youtube but it was total garbage..
@rochefsky Жыл бұрын
setting back to default sounds might just be re-installing the firmware (or upgrading if that wasn't done yet)... and a tuning video is a great idea - maybe I'll take that on :)
@AboveTheTrees00 Жыл бұрын
@@rochefsky yup just re-did the firmware on mine need to check the tuning issues I had before, when i get a minute, but game on that video is a good idea.

THANK YOU for making this video. I am still trying to understand. You can only load custom DX7 models on one Orange bank?
@rochefsky3 ай бұрын
You can load DX7 patches On 3 of the 8 orange banks… and each of those banks take 32 patches each (I’m going from memory but pretty sure)
@CamelJam3 ай бұрын
That is fricking brilliant. Which orange ones accept it?

hello rochefsky, first of all, thank you very much for these great videos. thanks to you, i'm now fully back into DX7 sounds, like in the 90s when i start making music;) i would like to come back to the comment or the questions of @willemZenhorst. i have the same "problem" or, before i overwrite the existing 3 soundbanks orange 3,4,5, i would like to know which ones were loaded with the firmware by default. or. isn't it also possible to ask for this. they must exist somewhere, probably in emily's knowledge drawer;).... can you get to it? it would be nice if you had an answer to this question in the meantime? thank you very much for your efforts. best regards markus
@rochefsky Жыл бұрын
Hi - that’s a great question that I tried to solve when I first did the video but didn’t persist… I’m going to give it another try - and perhaps there’s a way to tweak the code in Emilie’s patch downloaded to also upload from the Plaits…. Or… perhaps there is way to find it in the firmware source code if that’s around somewhere…
@TooSlowTube8 ай бұрын
On the modwiggler for um (YT doesn't like that word), on page 51 of a long thread with the title Mutable Instruments Plaits, it's explained where they are all kept, and where to find the list of the ones used. Unfortunately, the YT censorbot stops me giving more direct instructions on where to look.

Brian Eno presets too ? 😂
@rochefsky Жыл бұрын
well... that Brian Eno set looked very hopeful, but when I tried it, there were only a few sounds and the rest were "INIT VOICE" - so I wouldn't bother with that one... but I wouldn't be surprised if there's another floating around...
