Thanks this is very helpful. Please could you also share the timeline. Like how many days you had to wait for an appointment?

Hi Malcolm! I'm so glad you found the video helpful:) I arrived in Germany at the start of September and got my appointment to give my fingerprints in mid-November (I started contacting the Auslanderbehorde in early-mid October). After that, I needed to wait until after Jan 6 to actually pick up my residency permit. In fact, I have an appointment to pick it up in a few weeks! I just chose to be relaxed about it because once I had the "draft" of my residency permit in a digital format, I could show that to authorities and they understood what it meant and knew I was in the process of getting the real thing. I'm sure if I needed it faster, I could have made an appointment right after Jan 6. I hope this answered your question and please let me know if you need any more help:) Are you thinking of moving to Germany?

Thank you so much. I have recently moved to Munich Germany. Done with my anmeldung and bank account opening. Planning to apply for Residence permit and hence was looking for guidance around and your simple explanation made my life easy now. Thank you. You should do more such videos for people who arrive new to Germany. Lots of support 👍
