what you can do is put some dirt paths between each row of trees, paths help villagers not getting lost, and it also makes them wonder more around the island in case you want to see them active in other areas that aren't the main plaza aka resident services, hope it helps :)

The biggest tip I can give is to build green leaf piles with all your extra weeds. You can spam them all over your island but can still walk over them

For me, my problem is that I feel like I have a lack of good DIY recipes. Makes it really hard to get good looking variety. But I know I just have to get lucky with daily recipes and villager crafting. Not really any other way to speed up the process unfortunately. THIS explains it. I've been stuck at 4-stars for weeks, and I have a ton of items placed on surfaces and stalls, so I'll have to ditch those to get my rating up. I'm only really in it for the Golden Watering Can, so once I get 5-stars, I'll place them back.

thewhatness I didn’t have to move the stuff on all my stalls. If you get the option to place an item that’s fine. It’s the dropped items that caused me the problems. I’m my crafting area I was storing bundles of 30 hardwood, iron, Stone etc on the benches and I guess it resistierend in the game as multiple dropped items. As soon as I moved those bundles of resources into my storage at home I had a 5 star rating the very next day.

This is how you should get 5 Stars: 1. Make sure you make a river that floats down to the beach 2. Have a lot of decorations all over the island 3. Don't plant too many trees 4. Make more Bridges and Inclines the limit you can only have with each of them is 8 5. Have 10 Villagers on your island I did all of this and I managed to get to 5 stars. Keep in mind Isabelle is the one who says what you should do to improve your islands rating, but sometimes she is very vague about it. So I hope this helps anyone who is struggling to get to 5 stars.

I had my dropped items in stalls and it still counted them as clutter. I was at 4 stars, I picked up all the items from my stalls and I was 5 stars. Stalls do not stop them from counting as clutter.

You can't "place" diys, only "drop" them. If you PLACE something it's furniture, technically. If you "drop" something it's litter.

That’s what basically happened to me. 😅 I would check occasionally and I took her advice a little, but not enough to where I didn’t make my island look the way I wanted it to look. I know some people threw a lot of stuff together just for the stars, and ratings, but I really wanted my island to like the way I wanted regardless of the five stars. The five stars just ended up being a plus, and definitely a surprise 😄

TIP (u might wanna listen) heres what i did: i got 8 villagers -this, without anything, already get u to 2 stars i bought (or just got) the three first colors of many flowers and just planted them not even trying to cross breed them i already had the starter bridge u have to make, but once a second one was built i resched 3 stars i didnt have any inclines either but i did scatter furniture i wasnt using and that was taking up my storage around the island and i crafted furniture that didnt need many materials and placed them down in one area hope this helps!

So, I have 5 stars and my island is still pretty underdeveloped. I currently have 4 stairs, and 2 bridges. 10 villagers. A butt ton of flowers that overrun my island, which I will organize later. I guess around 60 or more individual placed fences. 1 huge area of fruit tree orchards, about a little more than 70 or 80 fruit trees, about like 15 hardwood trees I guess. I actually cut off both of my rivers, so they’re extremely small, and don’t actually go that far from the beach lol Also, I placed a lot of items in different sections all around my island, and I plan to organize and decorate later on, I just place items and clutter them in one section, which I know I will use, then move on and place different items cluttered together in another section, and so on and so forth. Also, I pluck any weeds I see. My island is a mess right now, but I still got 5 stars somehow, so I guess the most important thing is villagers, picking weeds, and just place a bunch of items around your island pretty much.

Does that count as scenery because it's placed and not dropped? Is it better to concentrate it in one area or spread it around? about 120 pieces of furniture and like 300+ flowers. Propably over 100 fences. I ended up putting some more beach chairs with Tiki torches in other sections of the beach to up the furniture count a bit more. I was able to save my 2 open areas that have pretty much nothing, although I'm now using one of them just to breed hybrid roses. I ended up not making that park, and I probably never will now. I kinda lost the motivation to create more stuff now that I'm already at 5 stars. I simply tweak floral arrangements here and there along with other minor changes every now and then. My house has been getting all the love now, lol.

If you dont have more than 8 villagers, your rating pretty much wont increase. Once you get them, tho, yes. All the work you put in will also be counted. Until then, no. You know exactly what to do, so do that :)

how do i get customization on my island i cant seem to figure it out and she keeps telling me to decoate going between fencing and nook shop stuff and i have a ton of both
