If someone works in a bat and pizza shops they would probably make a salary within or a little above the minimum wage which is 607 euro. There are full time professional jobs and a good number of international companies here. During winter restaurants still open unless the restaurant is strictly a summer type then they might close in winter season. Currently the Lithuanian government is still developing policies for refugees, they are not allowed to work in Lithuania. So if you're coming as a refugee please keep that in mind. Awww. Sorry to hear this. The taxes in Lithuania is about 40%. So it's no joke. You need to always ask the company the Net and Gross of your salary before taking the job to make sure you can manage with the final salary.

hey hey Igwe, unfortunately you cannot avoid the taxes here as you can get even bigger fines later and compared to Germany the taxes are not as high in Lithuania :) However, maybe your friend should try looking for other job? this is unusually small salary even for Lithuania, unless he was working part time :)

Wait, are you sure the person earns 280 euros per month and still has taxes deducted? He should be exempted from tax. I read somewhere on their official page that if you earn less than 500 euros or so infact the threshold is not even 280euros per month, you are not to pay taxes .. maybe he didn't want to tell you exactly what he received so you wouldnt beg him for money. I don't think that money attracts tax unless he gets past the threshold that attracts tax but automatically pays some amount to the recruitment agency that got him a job but online I checked the category of those exempted to pay tax and he falls under that category. Maybe the KZbin lady in Lithuania can shed more light on this. Cos It means Lithuania is cheating on him like a corrupt country

Unless there is a legally-backed explanation for someone who was supposed to receive 280 euros and had 110 euros deducted as tax and what type of tax was that for a student ......maybe someone on work permit in Lithuania can explain better: 2021 the annual tax-exempt amount of income (hereinafter − ANTEA) shall be EUR 4,800 (EUR 400 per month), if annual income of an individual does not exceed the amount of twelve minimum monthly wages valid on 1 January of the current calendar year. If income of an individual is higher, he is subject to ANTEA calculated by the following formula: ANTEA = 4,800 - 0.18 x (annual income of an individual - twelve minimum monthly wages valid on 1 January of the current calendar year).
