Heres a method. Find a building full of enemies. Walk to the front door but dont go in. Put the difficulty as high as you can handle. Higher means better Legendary Enemy spawn chance. Survival is the same as Very Hard. Use Psycho, Med-X, Buffout etc for more help. Make a Hard-Save (regular manual save) before you enter. Enter and make a quicksave (dont save over the hard save. keep entering and killing all enemies till a Legendary drops the TYPE of weapon you want. If you don't get the TYPE of weapon you want, reload the Hard-Save (the one you made outside) and do it all again, including the Quicksave every time. If you do get the TYPE of weapon you want, it probly won't have the EFFECT you want. Reload the Quicksave this time, not the Hard-Save. The same enemy will always spawn with the same TYPE of weapon, but it will change the EFFECT every time. You can make a video of this.

Agreed and you can pick it up quite literally straight out of the vault. Pickup the 3 gold bar from the cellar behind Sanctuary and any meds or general items with about 10/20 caps per 1 weight. Atleast the weight thing matters to me on Survival Mode.

@Olomec-bk3nw Yeah but those are a horror to attain and only start spawning high levels, Overseer's Guardian is not only accessible right out of the Vault it stays viable on a full playthrough and comes with several quite common ammo options.

There's a much simpler method and that's to start save scumming outside of an interior location before entry (not survival mode friendly). The reason you save before entry is to not load anything inside and this will be a svae you use to restart if you don't like the weapon type you get then you walk into the location and the auto save on entry will be used as your legendary effect reroll. To do it optimal you need a location which has a fair few enemies and you know one is legendary.

You can also just find a building with a legendary inside save the game outside then quicksave when you go inside, if its the gun you like but not the legendary then load the quicksave if its not the gun you like load the hard save.

Same with the freefall legs, if you quicksave before going into that little alcove that has them, you dial up a different set every time. Keep going until you get the pair you want. THAT one can take a while though, since both left and right can spawn as different armor variants.

If you equip the weapon before you reload (after a couple of times) every time your character will drop the gun on the floor so when you reload you can pick it up off the floor and get to reroll again. for you to reroll it again getting an never ending supply of ledgendary guns to pick from. [Works on xbox]

I know of a better one, head to the Boston public library (alley entrance) and save before heading inside, enter there you will have a grenade bouquet to disarm once you do, throw a landmine of any type back at the door, walk back to an overturned table at the center of the room and do a HARD save of the game. Wait a few seconds and 3 super mutants will one spawn (one should be legendary, if not, reload your save from outside until the legendary spawns) and depending on what landmine you threw, they will all die before the legendary mutants. until you get the legendary you want reload the save you made by the table. If you did it correctly, your game should be loading with the legendary dying with a different legendary item and the farming should be lasting less than 30 secs a loop.

You used to be able to legendary lock every legendary enemy in the game with saves and whatnot. Hubris comics was the main spot to do this and then the group of raiders roaming in Nuka world. These got patched out on console......the chest in Far Harbor is the only guaranteed way to loot lock on console now as far as I know

There are at least 2 guaranteed legendaries through far harbor, the Mirelurk queen and this one but you can get on average 1 in the first fight when you get to the dlc (if the correct level) and another legendary in the fight proceeding the mirelurk queen (again level needed)

I distinctly remember a way to grind legendaries at the national guard hq in the base game, theres a guaranteed legendary ghoul spawn in the front building, you save outside, then quicksave inside, then kill the ghoul, loading the save until you get the right weapon. Once you do you start loading rhe quicksave until you get the right legendary weapon, so you can get exactly the right legendary effect for your build

If you want to farm for Legendarys, go to Park Street Station where you start the quest for Nick Valentine. Save your game before you enter, between the starting area to the Vault entrance is 3 Legendary Triggerman. Kill them all and if you dont like what they drop, load the save. If you want to go inside the vault there is 1 more Legendary Triggerman, but the vault opening sequence can take a minute and faster to just load and run again. You can do this soon as you exit 111. It's my go to farm on new games, run strait there after exit and farm for a bit and get my double shot or unlimited ammo combat rifle and I'm set the whole game.

Going to the national guard training yard's recruitment office and abusing the combo of a quicksave and load save (done as soon as you enter the room) will not only get you a legendary weapon, but also a legendary weapon with the perk you want. Got a two shot western revolver that way.

PS: I forgot to mention: An explosive shotgun can profit from sneak attack bonuses/talents if you put a silencer on it. Doing so you can easily get you a 4.5 multiplier on the standard damage with this.

Starfield made this a little bit easier, just find a legendary enemy, preferably one much higher in level to you, then get them to low health. SAVE at this point, then kill them. Each time they die it randomizes a new piece of equipment for you. At level 24 I got a sniper that does over 700 dmg and a beowolf rifle that does 170 dmg.
