Just realised the reason why the right spool was freewheeling a bit after fast forward is because the takeup spool belt has not been fitted yet, derrr, lol.

Would love to see a video of how to change the belts ? Also I have found the roller pin in the bottom of my old one but the handle mechanism seems to stop and wont allow me to turn the handle without pulling back the arm underneath...any ideas?

Yep, the roller must have crumbled away. All you need is a new roller. If your in the UK do a search for: GR1 Grundig TK120 TK121 TK124 TK125 Fast Forward Rewind Play Start Stop Roller

I used one of those nails before to fix a missing pin on a Tandberg reel to reel speed control switch years ago, worked a treat but had to buy a super strong bolt cutter to shorting the nail. They are really tough these cable clip nails.
