This is a new series I will be doing, I have recently found my self frequently playing this game, my first Pump it up game was The Premiere 2 but, I've been an off an on player due to arcades not wanting to update the machine and then I'll get bored and cry like a kid, lol.

You made this 3 years ago but it's still helping out. I'm currently doing mostly 14s/15s. But I found the transition to 16s is really testing my limits of what seems possible using just the ball of the feet which is how I've been playing since the start. I definitely need to transition to the heel/toe method if I want to continue to improve. It'll also help to not destroy my stamina as quickly. But man, it's basically like learning a new controller for a fighting game or something. It's very difficult to re-learn all that muscle memory.

This is my brickwall. I learned to play PIU using just the front ball of my foot and made it all the way to A'ing 17's and some 18's just to find out that past that and there's just too many notes to move your whole leg that fast. I basically have to learn to play the game over again with this method lol. I play in socks and I think that makes it easier for foot speed but harder for heel/toe which trumps foot speed at that level, less foot area to reach the pads and less pressure on the pads when you CAN reach them. Also I play at a D&B so they're not the MOST sensitive pads. Will def be picking up a pair of those shoes in your other vid to try out, my converse just tire me out and are so sticky.

Been playing for around a week ot two. I actually figured out how preserve stamina this way, but I just knew you need to press yellow with your heel. I'm still getting used to performing the patterns that frequently come up, especially jumps. Reading is the least of my problem since I've played osu!mania a lot, but the problem is in my physical ability xD It doesn't tire me to lift my heel, but it does when I lift my toe, and with a bit of work, I'll probably play better. Thanks for the tip! I hope I can pull an S on an S6
@BryFo
@BryFo Жыл бұрын
This may sound boring but, it will help your feet and brain to preserve energy. During your set play one S1 or S2 and try to hit the red arrows as lightly as you can. This will give you a idea how lightly you need to touch those arrows. You should be able to breeze by until S10 with this method. S11 - S17 Just test how you can preserve stamina and read complicated patters.

Looks like I'm doing it mostly correctly, I just haven't been hitting the middle with my heel as often as I should to conserve stamina. That's the difference between me passing S17s. I passed the D17 barrier but am lacking in my singles play.
@BryFo

Hmmm...Normally people have issues passing D17 than S17. Doubles makes your foot response faster and increases stamina. Hopefully the heel and toe will help you out. You should be able to reach S19 no problem, after you get better with S17's. 🤔

I've been playing Pump for like 2 and a half months now and I've focused on kpop ones (Since those songs are the only ones that I listen to and play) and I've been able to crush S1-9 but I'm struggling to do the hard parts on 11-13 (Attempted Gotta Go S15 and got a blue tick A with 10 misses and tried bboom bboom s13 with 1 miss) Idk if my style of play is wrong cuz I've been using my tip toes (Ps: Never watched any tutorials before and only watched like 2 pros playing s15-18) So I'm wondering if using heel and toe will make me able to get an S on 11-13 kpop songs and are there any suggestions u could make to improve my gameplay :D
@BryFo
@BryFo Жыл бұрын
Actually you are playing the game correctly by using your tip toes. They will be some parts as you progress you have to do twist and turns. I S rank 11- 13 all the time using that method. If you want to practice heel and toe more at your level, I would recommend playing Poseidon shortcut S14.

@@BryFo im kinda like exploring this game myself as my friends play this casually and I’m the only one attempting the “hard” ones but it seems like I’m kinda stuck on progress as I just can’t seem to perfect (not miss) a song above s11 (tried doing D10 failed miserably lol) I was wondering if there are any other techniques I should learn also I realised I’m lifting up my foot too high on the twists/cross overs (idk what they’re called)
@BryFo
@BryFo Жыл бұрын
@@atelier7516 If you want to get good fast do this. Since you can get an a on S15. Go to S16 and attempt of of a minimum of B rank and do 4 four songs where you can at least B rank. Once you do that go to the next level up, wash, rinse and repeat. Once you hit a grade level of C or D that is your maximum level. Then just practice in the area of where you get Gray A and B. If you play once a week and do this for 3 weeks straight, the 4th week S15 should be a cake walk for you. Also you can do the other method by tiring yourself out by playing S16 AND S17 with only a 30 second break in between. I picked up some of my techniques when tired because, I at least wanted to make it through the song. Probably a few months from now, I'll make tutorials on how to get good at doubles. I need to edit the double 4 -9 later and I'm planning to go up to D20. I kind of point the finger at Andamiro for removing half doubles. It would've made it easier for new comers to understand how to navigate the pads. Last thing is don't beat yourself up on not being able to FPC a chart. When I started FPC a chart I was just playing the game until I realized at the end of the song I did. The tips I've listed, you should be able to FPC 11'S in around 2 - 3 weeks.

@BryFo
@BryFo 5 жыл бұрын
+Kyousha I know this may seem like a major downgrade but. Practice Rolling Christmas S8. When I were around your lvl, I did that chart and try to stage break pass w/o lifting my feet. This is so you can get use to the basic mechanics. Everytime you stage break pass it up it one lvl. Another way to learn heel toe is too choose a song that you know can do but, will be tiring. Your objective should be try to at least D rank the song. When I got tired, I started naturally heel and toe because I wanted to D rank the song. And I had to preserve energy. Try both of these twice per session and each time you play, you should notice some improvements.

Yes this works for higher Levels because, you are trying to preserve your energy for the crazy runs, for later in the song. You tiring yourself and keep playing, is telling your brain, " This is to strenuous, find another method to complete this task without using a lot of energy ".

Yeah. I remember those days. It's understandable that the old pads sink and it's hard to do heel and toe. Maybe someone at your game room / arcade could mod the pads or they will have to replace the pads. If not heel and toe won't apply to those type of bad pads.

any tips on improving speed? i find s18 just too fast for my legs to keep up.
@BryFo
@BryFo Жыл бұрын
Three methods. 1. Easiest method is just to play doubles. Doubles require more energy and you are constantly going back and forth across the pads. If were you I would start at D15 or 16 and then work your way up to D17. By the time you are at least A ranking D17, S18 should be easy by then. 2. Try playing S17 or S16 that have a bpm of 195 or higher. 3. If you can find a older version of pump that has Rush mode. Practice playing songs in Rush 110 - 150. Now this method works well and speed level went up a lot. I would play 6 - 8 songs a session doing Rush mode. Wouldn't recommend doing these on warm ups. Yeah these methods are guaranteed to work. If could rank them by effectiveness in order Method 3, 1, 2.

@BryFo
@BryFo Жыл бұрын
Yes a lot. You will get your best grades when you warm up. My warm ups are from D13, D15, D17, D19. Also depending on the temperature it may take you longer to warm up. If it's cold outside, it normally takes me 4 warm up credits, average temperature takes me 3, if it's hot it takes me 2. With proper warm ups, you probably could stage pass 18's and maybe even 19's. Not doing proper warm ups may even tire you out faster during your session.

The New Pads are Kind of Garbage and here's why. God forbid you have big Feet and Play on Normal Judgment, the Timing window's spacing becomes a huge problem especially on 16th notes at 170 BPM. Sometimes my Feet accidently hits where the Bracket use to be for the 5 panels.... now on the older pads that's fine, on the newer ones.... it actually triggers the arrow..... this is bad because if the accidental arrow you hit while going for another one is triggered, and if that arrow so happens to even be not so Far away from the judgment window, due to the Timing Window it can cause Goods and Bads. You can reduce the timing window via HJ (Hard Judgment) Which is what nearly everyone does to try to combat this problem, but it's still here. The older pads are so Much better for accurate 16th note runs at 170-200BPM+ and the like, but the Pads will of course need modding for the older ones to make brackets and 3's easier. That's the only thing that's Good about the New Pad Design. Other than that, Due to panels and corners of each arrow no longer having a metal bracket, it's completely tanked my scores due to my playstyle. Cannot SSS anything pass a 12 or 13 without getting robbed of a Good or Bad somewhere due to this new shitty pad design (Or well, the overall new Design since Prime came out) Was able to Manage a C on Skeptic S22, B on Your Mind S21 and the like, but it's just very difficult for myself with Big Feet and the brackets gone.

What shoe size do you wear?
@delrachdubal
@delrachdubal Жыл бұрын
@@BryFo Sorry this took so long for me to Answer. The answer is bizarre, it depends on the Maker of the Shoe. Nike's are 13 1/2 to 14's and some Shoes it's 12 1/2 or 13's such as New Balance. My Style also is a long gone one, Flat Footing but with minimum Movement on the Arrows as possible to conserve Energy/Stamina. In the Original Pump It Up NX Training Mode (I'm Old) This is known as the Slide Technique, and it really helps especially for turns and M Runs to conserve and if you want to, Lazy out haha! Bending Ankles along with Heel Toeing a whole song I cannot do as my Feet will Start Hurting especially My Ankle after the example in 0:49-0:50 Even at 150 BPM Stream runs for even 20 seconds. Old Pads I had never ever had a problem with. Worse was Hitting 3's and Holding 3 Freeze Arrows but now that is a simple fix. The not so simple Fix, finding Older pads before Prime when they adapted this change. Edit to say, Even Matt Miller (Helpme) Plays on older pads, as a matter of fact it is the same Pad I played Exceed and NX2 on before Dave and Busters got rid of it and he bought it, and he is getting pretty Solid Scores!
