Wish I could post a photo. Items I bought: extra bond; Sweet pickins Milk paint color: Red Wagon; I used a dark brown paint for the base color; and the dark oil wax instead of black. OMG, I love this idea!When we bought our 1800 farm house we found a bureau in the barn that was sooooo alligator crackled. We had a hard time stripping it so I finally found out that I could just chalk paint it and I am so proud of it now. Had I known back then that was the desired finish I would have saved my husband and myself so much trouble. You two are so inspring! I cannot waint until spring when I can get out into our converted chicken coop to work on some furniture projects that you gave me inspiration for. Chicken coop turned party house turned workshop! Works for me. Gotta get it heated, though..lol.

I have to say, I usually don’t watch these videos because the people get on my nerves. They talk WAY too much like they went to Harvard and got a degree in using chalk paint(I say chalk paint because that’s what I’ve always used), then talk in this fake voice to first tell us how they went parasailing and stumbled across this paint on vacation and how much it cost and where they picked it up from and how the cashier said it was their best seller. “I’m like dammit Wanda!!! Idgaf!” You were more like “hey y’all look. This what I used, this how you do it, 💥 boom 💥 the end.” So I subscribed!!!😇you’re awesome.

If you wanted to use this technique on a dining room table and chairs that is used daily, what would you seal the tabletop and heavy contact areas with to prevent wear, tear and chipping?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
This is sealed with wax. You could use a liquid top coat for durability but be aware it may reactivate the paint and cause further chipping.

My go to brush that works well with all paints is this one. jamirayvintage.com/collections/wax-glaze-brushes/products/1-3-4-oval-round-brush-paint-pixie The #8 is the same step brush but smaller so it holds a little less paint.

hi Jami, niice tutorial!😍 i have a white wood, do i have to put brown or black b4 the accent color I want it? is it gonna show the white?
@JamiRayVintage2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it does chip through the spray paint. I would spray paint it let it dry 48 hours then do another coat. The trick is to put the milk paint on when the spray paint isnt quite dry and it’s still tacky.

Nice paint brush.. looks so easy!!

Very nice table. Can you use wood stain instead of spray paint and still get the same effect? I have a bedside table that is light wood but I want it to be dark showing through instead when I distress it. I will be using chalk paint as the top layer and have a load of wood stain and no spray paint.
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
You can use wood stain instead of the spray paint to get the two tone, but the spray paint is what gave the nice resist and helped the milk paint crackle and chip.

Milk paint is powdered to start with and contains milk. It chips and crackles on its own. Chalk paint can vary in consistency and doesn’t naturally chip and crackle.
