I have a huge fashion, food and architecture portfolio that I have built over nearly a decade but I have never taken the step to make a serious attempt of doing photography full time. Getting clients and pricing seems to be a mystery that no one will give you a straight answer on. Thank you for this video. I think food and architecture/real estate will be the more reliable niches although fashion would be my dream

I’m glad you liked it 😊 and thank you for sharing your experience. Yes pricing is another one that I plan to break down in one of my next videos. Out of the niches you named, fashion is definitely the hardest to break into professionally. I talk about why that is that in my 10 photography careers video.

Thanks for the video. I'm starting new and struggling to get clients from Ads. This video has amazing advice.

Thank you for watching. Yeah, as I mentioned in the video stay away from paid ads until you know how to get customers reliably with your offer. Ads will only help you scale not sell.

I kind of do everything for photography, portrait, nature, architectural, etc. I like doing all of it, but prefer to do photography in more chill environments. Can I do all of these niches and still run a successful business?
@katjafeldmeierАй бұрын
You could, but it’s much much harder to do because of lack of clarity for yourself and your clients. If you had to pick one to earn money with, which one would you pick? I would take some time and write down the ideal path for each niche. Say, you picked nature photography: what would your portfolio have to look like? Who would your clients be? How much does a nature photography gig pay? What type of hours would you have to work to be a nature photographer? What would your life look like? Etc etc. And do that for each niche that you are considering. Then pick one and go all in for this niche for 6-12 months. If you don’t like it, you can pivot after that time to a different niche and try to go all in into that one. If you see a restaurant and on their menu they offer sushi and pizza, and Indian food, and Chinese and tacos…how likely is it that they will be exzellent at any of the dishes? And how likely is it that you would trust them? Hope that helps ☺️

whats your thoughts about hiring someone to do the phone calling to the leads?
@katjafeldmeier2 ай бұрын
I think it's a good idea. I actually talk about it in my '6 new side hustles' video as a potential gig for photographers to work for other photographers to sell their services. I would try finding someone who would work on commission so you would basically split the revenue from each sale they make. This way you would save cost upfront on hiring a sales rep and they could have unlimited upside by being paid a revenue share.

@@katjafeldmeier thanks! I watched your other video and delighted to hear that the niche i picked is one that is considered lucrative - real estate and interior design. I have yet to find agents who dont already go to a larger one stop shop real estate photography company. Thankfully I also love lifestyle and travel or food photography. Your tip on simplifying pricing structure was helpful too!
