After you got you státní občanství And your rodny list did you have to do another application separately for marriage/divorce? I'm trying to get my občanka (identity card) and there is some confusion about whether or not I have to do this before they will issue the občanka. Also, after you received you rodny list how long did it take before you were entered into the system? I go to the úřad constantly and they keep telling me I'm not in the system yet..it's very confusing and people at úřad Are not very friendly. Great video. Thanks for your time.

Yes, I did have to get a “czech” marriage certificate. I did this before getting my ID. I already had applied for my obcanstvi in 2014, so they just re-confirmed it so it was up to date (because you have only 1 year to get an ID/passport after you apply and I never ended up getting either). I had to do it before since my last name would be different. Then I had to submit the CZECH marriage certificate with my applications. Hope that makes sense!

Sorry to bother you again with questions, hope you don't mind. 1) How was exactly the process in the case of your children? You went to the offices in Prague and there you got the Czech Certificate of Citizenship (CCC) by presenting all the necessary formularies and documents, right? That certificate was given to you in a day? Or at least less than a month? 2) After you get the CCC...Did you also had to go to the special registry in Brno to register their birth and get their "czech" version of their birth certificate? Or that is already requested together with the CCC? I understand that soliciting the first copies always takes longer. Do you remember how long they took? 3) How "willing" to speak english are in those offices? My czech is not good enough to understand when spoken to. I can write and pronounce correctly, but if they can't understand me, are they "kind enough" to speak to you in english? How was your experience in that matter?
@michelleness28033 жыл бұрын
I don’t mind at all! Happy to help. So yes, I had to have their US birth certificates officially translated first but then I just went and applied at some office in Prague. I had to have that plus the application and my ID (proof that their parent is a czech citizen). It took 3 weeks to get back. They give you in return a Czech Birth Certificate and the CCC. Then you are able to take those to apply for an ID and passport. You do not have to go to Brno for anything even though that is where the embassy is. The office in prague will send it there. The offices are usually very unwilling to speak English unfortunately. It will be VERY beneficial to you to have someone come with you. Even pay a translator for an hour of their time… it doesn’t take long to go to the office. I was there for about 15 minutes. It will be worth it because there are usually grumpy old women working there who are rude and want to make your life more difficult 😅 I even speak czech pretty well but I took my grandma with me to be safe. Just make sure everything is translated/notarized properly and you’ll be good!

@@michelleness2803 Thank you your patience and taking the time to answer :) I thought you had to go to Brno too because at the czech embassy here they tell you just what you need to know and don't explain anything until you reach the next point in the process. Im currently waiting for my mom to recieve the CCC. So according to what you said, when they issue the CCC, they also give you the birth and marriage certificate (if you are married), all 3 documents together? The vague answer explaining what i needed to do from the embassy made me understand that they were 2 different inquires, one for the CCC, and another for the birth and marriages certificates, how was in your case? And when you speak of an embassy in Brno, from which country is this embassy you are refering to?
@michelleness28033 жыл бұрын
@@marcelofilipchuk5321 I’m referring to the Czech Embassy in Brno. But you don’t need to go there. Vodičkova 18, 115 68 Praha 1 This is the exact address. This is an “urad” where they accept applications for czech citizenship. They mail everything to Brno where it is filed. Then they mail the documents back to Prague and you go pick them up. My citizenship and my kids was filed separately. I first had to get my information done and I applied for the czech marriage certificate at the same time. Then I went and applied for my kids. But yes they do the CCC and birth certificate at the same time. They go hand in hand because you can’t have one without the other. It might be two different applications you have to send in for each… but you send them in at the same time.
@michelleness28033 жыл бұрын
I hope that makes sense! I just submitted everything once for myself. I got my CCC, czech birth certificate, and czech marriage certificate back. Once I had my papers, I could apply for the kids.

@@michelleness2803 and how where you informed that the documents were ready to get retired? You had to regularly call and ask?

Apparently you are the only video in all youtube explaining this process. Im in the process of getting it. First, my mom is required to have it and then I am able to get it. Since im trying to speed up a little bit the process cause Im in a little bit of a hurry leave my country, I wanted to ask you how did you manage to do the citizenship for your children already being in Czech Republic. As far as I know to do that you have to already have an adress there because the documents are sent there, am I right? How did you manage that? You first moved there?
@michelleness28033 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes exactly one parent has to have it first. As for my kids, I remember speaking with someone at the Czech embassy in the US, and they told me I “HAD” to get their citizenship before we moved. And it was going to take 6 months. I was also in a bit of a hurry to leave so I called the czech embassy in Czech and they told me that I could apply for it directly here and it would only take a month :) My address on my ID was automatically set as the address for the embassy in Brno because I did not have an official permanent residence yet. The children got the same since that was on mine. However, since I applied in person at the office in Prague, I was able to give them the address of where I wanted the documents mailed. So basically, once your mom gets it and you have all of your documents in order, you could just move here and apply right away. It’s not what you’re “supposed” to do because the Czech Republic likes to see that people have their ducks in a row before moving here. So it’s safer to say you’re just visiting at first and then file your paperwork here at the embassy ASAP. Once you say you’re moving, people will immediately start asking proof of a visa. Not sure where you are from but coming from the US the kids were legally allowed to be here for 90 days on their US passports so we were able to get the paperwork done in time. One last thing, if you decide to apply here just really triple check you have EVERYTHING done/translated/notarized properly before you bring it in. I ended up having to have something re-translated because it wasn’t done up to their standards 😅 it helps to have a czech person with you if you don’t speak the language. Hope that helps! Good luck 😊

@@michelleness2803 Thank you for your reply! Well in my case "the child" is me. I have to do my mother's first. Then for mine im looking for ways to speed up things a little bit. Im already way past underage so I dont know. Work is not an option bc nobody would give me work without a work visa. I suppose perhaps a holiday visa but I run with the odds of being aswered that I still should do the whole process at the embassy in my country (Argentina), which is what im trying to avoid due to waiting time for the documents to arrive here.

Hi, do you know if grandchildren or great grandchildren can get citizenship? I heard there were new laws on the make to let this happen. I hope so :c
@michelleness28034 жыл бұрын
As far as I know it’s only as long as one parent was born in czech
@petersockler79884 жыл бұрын
That could work yes depending on year. As long as you have an ancestor who was born in Czechia and did not leave before 1910, did not lose Czech citizenship or become Slovak (or would have become Slovak) then you can get Czech citizenship by descent. If your family fulfills this criteria then one if your parents would be Czech anyway. Hope that helps. Contact your local consulate for details!

@@petersockler7988 Thank you Peter! My grandmother left in 1888 so I do not qualify to get citizenship by decent. I am very sad about this but thank you for posting it here as people need to know these points! A site called Polaron listed this info as well.

what happens if my mother is getting her CCC (both of her grandparents were czechs) and I'm over 18, can I get my citizenship?
