I accidentally wound up a new film I bought (an expensive one too) and this helped me save it! Worked first time as well! 😅 thank you so much

Great tip! Wish I knew this before i went ahead and bought a film retriever. Had to wait for delivery when I could have just gone and shoot. Keeping this tip in case I leave it at home. Thanks!

It finally worked!! Thank you mate :) I thought I'd just wasted a film after 2 shots. Had been in the camera and I forgot and wound it on.

AMAZING. Took me a few tries but then it worked! I completely messed up loading film into my Pentax K1000. The bad news is I thought I took pictures when I didn't (always check the take up spool is turning!), the good news is: thanks to you, I can at least use this canister now.

My film will absolutely not go into my wound roll. Anyone else have this not work trying to get Portra 400 out? I can’t insert my other roll at all, just will not move past the initial half inch.

Keep trying. It takes awhile but once it goes in it should be pretty smooth

He shows this but doesn’t say it - make sure to clamp the “retrieving” film between your fingers, or you’ll be an idiot like me and unspool and expose 10 frames of fresh film when you pull. Also, I don’t think you need nearly as much force as he shows in the video, mine just needed a little pull.

I'm thinking about using this technique to feed the film on the developing reel for my Paterson tank, though I wonder if this would work as it requires some force to pull out the film from the canister. Anybody tried this?
@Jamiee-p
@Jamiee-p Жыл бұрын
No, it doesn't require any force at all. I just did it, and it just felt like pulling the film out as if I was about to load a new canister into my camera. No resistance at all
@KylerSteele
@KylerSteele 11 ай бұрын
Its doable but I recommend a specific tool if you are going to be developing and doing it to a lot of rolls for consistency
@intomixxtopia
@intomixxtopia Жыл бұрын
Sadly it didn't work for me. Is it because the roll is already deep inside so it can't be pulled out or is it because the tape is too weak?
@KylerSteele
@KylerSteele Жыл бұрын
Sometimes it doesn't work the first try. If it isn't connected to the right place it wont pull it out cleanly
