This one is the rarest and possibly not many people know about it. It is not written anywhere except in the application itself. You can get exempted from language requirement if your JOB requires Finnish citizenship, and there is no way around it. Basically if your employer proves that in order for you to perform your work duties, the citizenship is a must! Happens in very rare and distinct jobs but it is an option to select in the application and then ou can attach the letter of explanation.

There's a problem. I'm not allowed to simply come and live in Finland 4-5 years without a residence permit. It's required if I'm gonna stay there longer than 90 days. In order to get it I need to have one of these solid reasons for residence: 1) Working 2) Studies 3) Family ties 4) Re-immigration 5) Finnish heritage 6) International protection. Otherwise they will just kick my ass out of your country. None of the options fit in my case. I've got an online business and don't do jobs. Graduating from a university in Finland doesn't help to get its citizenship. I've got no family ties there, no Finnish heritage (I don't know if I do though) and I'm not a refugee. If I say: ''well, I wanna stay in Finland just because I love it'', it probably won't work. Being lucky enough to get married there in 3 months doesn't seem realistic. Any ideas?

My father (now passed) was born in Finland and was a dual (canadian) citizen at the time of his passing, I have relatives there, the family farm has been in the family for around 300 years. I would quite happily move to finland and give up my canadian citizenship to do so, with the state of this country these days I am very seriously wanting to look into it. Just wondering how those factors would play into the process...

Non-EU guide for Finnish citizenship 1) Graduate from a Finnish university or univ. of applied sciences to apply for jobs as part of the local workforce 2) Find a job in Finland and stick to it 3) Learn Finnish for a couple of years and pass the YKI test 4) Get married or establish a serious, ongoing, long-term (2 years minimum) registered romantic relationship with a Finnish citizen to establish a permanent family connection 5) After 5 years of continous and law-abiding residence on the basis of employment and/or family ties, and with proof of your Finnish skills, apply for Finnish citizenship Step 4 is optional, but recommended, as long as the relationship is happy and genuine. The authorities will find out if a relationship is fake. Simply getting married to a Finnish citizen does not entitle one to Finnish citizenship either, as each applicant is reviewed individually.

My mom is Finnish, my dad is Swedish and I'm born in Sweden. I read that I had to visit Finland after my 18 birthday to be a Finnish citizen (I might be wrong) but I haven't done that. I've only been to Finland (on short holidays) when I was around 4 years old. Somehow I've been getting the envelopes for both the Finnish and Swedish EU vote. Could I be a Finnish citizen without knowing it? And how can I vote from 2 countries in the same election? It sounds wrong and I did not take advantage of it, I only voted using the Swedish one.
@HakureiMikko4 жыл бұрын
If you received documents to vote for Finland i the EU elections I'm pretty certain that you are a citizen. You would have been granted citizenship upon birth through your mother's citizenship. Also, it seems you have not lost your Finnish citizenship at the age of 22 (by virtue of being a resident of a nordic country i.e. Sweden for at least seven years prior to turning 22). I suggest you contact the embassy for confirmation. I was thinking you would have had some confirmation by being called for military duty however, if I recall correctly those who carry dual citizenship are called in their country of residence. So, in the case of Sweden, not very likely. As a side note, back before 2003, those who acquired a foreign citizenship automatically lost the Finnish one. I just reclaimed mine recently. Fortunately, as a former citizen (formerly former?) I was able to do so by declaration. Cheers!

If I’m an American citizen how would I live in Finland like how do I settle and make my life over there?
@DemonicGoblin-mv4ob4 жыл бұрын
Your best bet would be to get a Finnish gf and marry in and/or get a tech job. This is basically how most western foreigners come to be here

I am from India and I planning to go Finland for bachelor of robotics and I thinking to settle there. Is it necessary to learn finnish or swedish language for PR?? It take lot of time to learn a complicated language 😅😬😬🥴😵😵

What's PR? There are no Bachelor programs in English in universities at the moment (except Science & Technology in Tampere) so you would need to take an FIN/SWE program.

Dear friend PR stands for permanent residence. Thanks for your reply

@@amrindersingh7674 I see! For PR, learning Fin&Swe is not necessary but for citizenship you need.

what does Finland consider as a "job" when they say thats a way to move there. could it be any type of job? also how would someone like me from the usa find a job in Finland?
@AleksiHimself2 жыл бұрын
I believe you need a job contract or a binding offer. Migri has the details. Look for online job portals like LinkedIn Jobs and jobsinfinland.fi

@@AleksiHimself i checked but it never gave specifics, it gave a few examples like internship and experiments, for all i know i could find a dishwasher job and they'll let me stay in Finland. but I'm not interested in school in Finland, id like to eventually find a job to move there. unfortunately i do not have any Finnish family and I don't have any other EU family, or at least I'm not aware of them. Any tips on how to get to Finland for basically no other reason but to move there and have any job😂😂 ?

@@christophermilligan5337 there is a Facebook group "Americans in Finland". I'm sure someone there has done that before you. Maybe try asking there.
