Try making your mapping response graphs exponential not logarythmic in shape. You want the turn to ramp up the more you turn, not decrease. So lots of accuracy/small movement looking mainly forwards, but as you turn the rate of turn increases.

This works quite well, thank you. I improved response by using process control in program called Process Lasso. If you run the tracking software at high priority and on separate independent threads from the sim, that works well.

Smoothtrack is essentially the same but one big positive here is, when from a cellphone, it drains your cell battery fast. On webcam, it doesnt.

Pro tip: Make sure your exposure isn't blown out in the preview. I have a dark room with a bright screen, so auto exposure on my webcam blows out the whites, so the pink dots were flickering when I would turn my head (basically losing tracking). Once I installed my cameras software and disabled auto exposure and reduced it so whites weren't blown out the tracking was much better and I stopped losing the dots when I turned my head. It also allowed my webcam to operate at 55 FPS instead of 30 FPS as the exposure was destroying my webcam's CPU. Remember for tracking the objective isn't a good looking picture, but what gives you the best tracking with minimal interruptions. Hopefully this helps others who may have been experiencing inconsistent tracking like myself. Pro tip #2: You can have asymmetrical curves, meaning you can set your pitch so your look up is different from your look down to keep it from glitching, by ticking the asymmetrical button in the curves editor. Then you have two separate graphs for your curve for that axis.

For the now best option is using OpenTrack with integrated input "neuralnet tracker", make sure that you calibrated it for you cam in options (input hummer button)

Thank you for the comment. AI track along with other paid systems will offer you a more accurate and stable option. Your paying for quality and reliability. This option is free so that why I recommend you try it first. If it's not working for you then you always have the option of something like TOBI or other paid hardware. Best of luck

Thank you for your kind words! 🙏 as for Webcams really it will work with most cameras you buy. The better the quality the better the software will pick you up. I would suggest a 1080p are minimum 720 resolution camera and if possible a known brand like logitech usually work very well. As for the physical head tracking, yes this will be less accurate because it's driven buy software and an algorithm calculating movement but to be fair, this option is free and if you tune it your way you can have very similar results.... i would try this first, if you feel it's not good enough then consider like a TrackIR or TOBI. Thank you! Yes I have a logitech c922 Webcam, for the purpose of this video I had it at 1080p resolution... I only change it to 720p if I'm streaming for performance boost, and I can say the facetracking works just as well at 720p. It may even work at lower resolutions and quality as long as the webcam can detect your facial features (eyes and mouth position). Hope that helps, best of luck

works with a 480p 30fps camera from 2007ish..not perfect but i imagine anything from 2010+ will be good. you can also use your phone. camera with good low-light performance is crucial though, my cam needs a lot of light.

Hey Payam, the camera should be a wecam or any camera you can connect to the computer and use it as a webcam. As for the resolution and quality, it's works with 720 and 1080 which I tried both. And quality in this case does matter. The better the image quality and resolution, the better your result will be, and try to have your face well lit so the camera has a better and more accurate detection. I would suggest maybe a logitech and 1080p if it's within your budget. But try to avoid those cheaper alternatives you find online as they may work but not as well.

Got it working now as i read the note on start tracking before starting sim its a bit jumpy and jerky in the movements, but that could be because of my cam as its quiet old, will get a new 1080p see if that helps, it helped a bit by putting some lights on but i do like to fly in the dark, thanks for the video great work, Don't forget folks start open track and AITrack before starting flightsim.

Yes the better the cam the better the result, and your correct starting it before the sim seems to work for many people (when I made the video it was based of earlier versions and it wasn't required to start prior). That's a great question. All software has limits, which includes paid options as well. Issue 1, If you turn your head and look back, you're unable to see what's on the screen in front of you . Issue 2, most software follow points on a 2d surface. Even with paid options , the markers It follows, as soon as you turn your head back, the markers are now covered by your head, and the software is unable to follow. Possible solution: Increase the sensitivity when you look right and left. This means when you turn your head about 90 degrees ether way, it will turn your view about 135 degrees. This will help you see most of the back, including rudder. I hope that helps and you understand what I'm trying to say.

I saw it in the instructions and followed them. I thought it had something to do with the communication between both running apps, but I'm not sure. I wish I could give you an answer, I think that question needs to go to the developer. Thank you for the good video. Unfortunately it's not to me, the method works but it is way worse than TrackIR, which by its turn sucks because the additional wires and USBs. By third way, VR is heavy, tireless and FPS unfriendly despite the great immersion. For me, the only so-so solution would be Tobii.

Great video and explanation. I’m currently toying with the trackir but they are hard to get hold of at the minute and not sure if I can justify the expense, especially when I see a vid like this for free. In all honesty though how would you say this experience would compare against trackir?

So Track IR will be more fluid and and have a wider range of motion. Reason is because it's a mixture of hardware and software tracking multiple points in a 3d space but it is pricey. This option is free and to be honest works well if you have good lighting and a decent Webcam. This option uses mostly software and a webcam to follow your facial features in 2D with the algerithm relaying the movement information to the sim. As long as you set it up the way you like you can get similar results, but if you want something move accurate then something like the Trackir or Tobii are the way to go. Hope that helps 🙏

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I don't own ED so I can't test it out but I did a quick search and find that many users use "tracknoir" which is another free tracking software and that one does seem to work. There is a few videos online you can find with tutorials for it. Hopefully that helps

This AItrack was very difficult to set up so to save time for others: -If it can't find your camera set it to a different one, eg: camera2 -If it finds your camera but crashes or the screen looks like an acid dream set the resolution to your cameras resolution, eg: 1280x720 -If the octupus is having a seizure restart everything, or change the tracking model

I tried it on DCS and it worked good but sometimes it does weird thing. I wonder if it's coz the light on my face (maybe not enough?) so it loses tracking few ms or if it's coz the quality of my cam 720p ? I want to buy a new cam 1080p to test but I am not sure ...

Hey Josue, I'm happy to hear it's working for you. To answer your question, it could be a little bit of both. I would first try increasing the light around your face so you are clear and visible to the cam. That is free and easy to do and may help. If that does not help then you can try a 1080p camera as I'm sure it will provide better results but keep in mind this software is taking your facial features in a 2 dimensional space. When you start moving your head far left and right, up and down the software uses A.i to track your features and translates them in a 3d space. It is not perfect and may loose you sometimes but if you move slower, make sure your face is clear and visible to the camera send make sure you don't go out of frame it does a great job for being free. If your looking for something more accurate and reliable you may want to look at another option like Trackir, more expensive and requires extra hardware but it's an option. I hope that helps 🙏

All well done, but unfortunately, with the liners, this doesn't work well. When I look towards the upper panel, unfortunately, the view isn't stable and clicking the buttons becomes impossible, the same goes for the FMC. It's a shame, I thought it would be a great alternative to VR.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes it's not perfect but it was a free option and for many planes it seems to work well. Maybe for jetliner, a paid option might be more realistic, something like Tobii eye tracking or TrackIR hardware and software. VR is probably the best option but also the most expensive. Hey @nineteenzerothree unfortunately I have not. I have been able to make it a little better by moving the sensitivity down, so maybe I'll make an update video soon to show that. It's not perfect, but it helps

Hello! I believe they should work as the camera system for P3d is very similar to FSX. It's free so i would give it a go and see how it works but I have seen others using it on FSX and it was fine

This should work with Xplane 11, i have only tested it with FSX, Prepare3d and now Microsoft flight simulator 2020 and they all worked

Did you try opening the tracking software first (both apps), then starting the simulator? let me know if that helps. Also I updated the links in the description for the applications

@@Alberto.Barros yeah my bad I was confused I have a PS3 I with the IR filter taken out so I think that's obviously part of the problem because for this application you need the webcam to see your face right?

@@dingdongpattiwack yes thats correct, the Webcam needs to see your face and track the movement and then translate the information in game

Do you not realise that Opentrack can do the tracking itself without needing to use the extra AI Tracker program? You are making it a lot more complicated than it needs to be.

I didn't know that. This video was created a long time ago, and when I made it, I was following the instructions from the developer. Things may have changed, I might have to do a newer update video. Thank you for the info, I will definitely look into it. Have a great day!
