If you're just starting out and don't have a proper deck DON'T go into casual. Ranks 25-23 are MUCH easier and they are filled with new players and are basically inaccessible to people with good decks because you can't get back there, while more than half of casual players have full netdecks.

If you aren't getting at least 4 wins, and on most occasions 6+ wins, you aren't going to make much profit. If I end up with a terrible deck and only win 2-3 games, I usually get a pack and around 30-40 gold, which is a net loss of 10-20 gold and way more time investment. Basically if you are confident you can get into the 4 prize pack range, which I believe is 4-5 wins, it will always be profitable. If you aren't confident in your ability to do that then you will end up losing gold most of the time. You are also going to having to be a scumlord if you want great numbers in arena. Don't try to do quests in arena, if you have the option to pick Mage, Rogue, or Pally, do it. Trying to do your priest, hunter, or warrior daily in arena as an unskilled player is going to end with you getting 2-3 wins.

Any class but priest and hunter can be successful in arena, mage and rogue are just in general better. My best runs have been with shaman. Watch some arena guides and use things like hearth arena to help draft and you should end up getting at least 4 wins a run.

I've had 12 win priest runs because my deck was absolutely broken but rogue is by far the best class and mage is by far the second best so you should always pick them. You can go 12-0 with any class but the deck you have is going to have to be amazing.

Note for new players, DON'T spend your gold on arena right away as you will very likely get back more gold than you put in. Arena costs 150g and always gives at least one pack worth 100g, so you would like your other rewards to total atleast 50g. The problem is every win in arena comes at some one else's loss, and as there are people who get well over the 3 win average, the majority of people must win less than 3 games in arena. This means that unless you already know how to play arena (which plays quite a bit differently from normal constructed) you will be giving your gold, which you need as a new player, to more experienced ones who get far more wins. On a different point, the ranked rewards are very heavily skewed to multiples of 5, so i you can get to rank 15 or 10 ect it's well worth it, but the difference between any other two ranks like 15 to 14 is only 5 dust, so not really worth the hassle. Everyone should be able to get to rank 20 for that first little reward as you can't loose ranks until then, so if you play ranked a few times, you will eventually get there.

Hey Boogie, I haven't played Hearthstone in a few months. I had no idea basic decks only dueled other basic decks 1:40. This is great news as all of my custom decks have a Red X over them for some reason. Anyway i decided to play some basic games to try and relearn the game. However after i started the basic game, i quickly noticed my opponent was playing a lot of new dragon cards i havent seen. A strategy I use to grind for the quests is to reroll the cheapest quest and then complete the most expensive (a pack of cards for watching your friend win) the only exception is if the quest you end up getting is a 40 gold 3 wins with any class then you're kinda forced to do that one first. I don't have any hearthstone vids but if you wouldn't mind checking out my channel that would be cool 😅

The one tip I can NOT stress enough. DO NOT PLAY CASUAL AS A NEW PLAYER. It seems to be full of higher level players testing out their new/weird decks. As a new player I had MUCH more luck in ranked. I understand this not being in the video because for someone like boogie who plays a lot / has every card it won't matter much, but for new players with stock decks, ranked is the way to go.

Trying to make what you have work against completed net decks is pretty fun and it feels good watching your deck increase in power each time you manage to craft a new card for it.

+GamingMatters +GamingMatters thats a big big mistake...you have to try other classes, for the fun, for the difference and for the experience, you wont get better unless you learn the other classes basics...if you try a class by yourself you have experience and know what their next play could be sometimes...when i started hearthstone i used to play mage only too...then i read what i just told you and tried other and my most played classes are shaman, druid and paladin now and mage is only 4th, even if i played like my first 10 hours hearthstone only with it...don't stop because some players took your fun one day...go on you will get better ;)

I've found this game so difficult to get into for someone who doesn't want to pay. There's no reward for playing against friends, so that's fun but ultimately useless in progressing. Taking a Basic Deck online pits you against an onslaught of randoms who all have better cards than you, and as a result, I probably win 1 in 5 games. Because of this, dailies are a grind that I just can't be bothered to do. I haven't tried Arena yet, and maybe I should, but as far as I can tell, there is an instant paywall once the player's completed the tutorial and computer enemies. At the rate I'm going (just dailies right now), it feels like it'll take years before I can build a half-decent deck. So for me, I prefer watching the game as opposed to actually playing it.

+Scarlet's Shinies I've been playing since May 2015 F2P with no real money, got all 3 adventures and a full zoo deck. If I really wanted I could make it to legend, and basic decks alone can get you to rank 15 if you play well and pick the right class. Obviously the more cards you have the easier, but you can't get anywhere if you're not willing to try and get better at the game. I guess you play casual instead of ranked, which is a bad decision since casual matches players worse than ranked, so you may face easier decks, but often still won't and will be facing better players. Ranked will put you against players of the same skill, so in your case they will be just starting out like you.

+Scarlet I'm free to play, got 3 legendaries so far, after some time, dunno, around an year? That excepting the League of Explorers ones. I got myself a nice murloc paladin, and rocking to rank 15 with it, trying to get higher. You don't really need to put money in it, just perseverence. Try making a quite easy aggresive deck, like a budget zoo warlock. I have one, it's working like a charm. Or search for basic/standard decks, those are pretty good too.

I found the arena to be pretty worthless because it's all about luck in what cards you get to pick from vs others. Sometimes you end up with a really shitty deck, and then you lose 3 consecutive games and you're done. Even if you have only 1 win, you end up paying 150 and you get one pack and 25 gold back, which means you lost money. The most I've ever been able to do in the arena was 3 wins. Sure the reward was worth it then, but that was 1 single time that I managed that.

+Justin Lim But you get the same result by winning one game in tavern brawl for free which he didn't even mention, also it's better because you get the same pack every week which gets a legendary faster (which you disenchant if it's lame). A bad arena player should only play arena if they enjoy it more than constructed. Otherwise, they should save for adventures and packs.

Sprocket Not really. Tavern brawl is available to all players and you dont need to spend gold to enter. While Arena is better for new players because they learn alot more from it as well as gain some gold. The Tavern Brawl will always be available while Arena is the best way to spend gold as well as to gain dust to craft cards from the golden cards you get.

I know, I prefer Arena to constructed because it's the best part of the game overall. But, winning one game in brawl every week is a great way to improve your collection.

i actualy make no losses in Arena 100 gold = 1 Pack = 40 dust x3 300 Gold= 120 dust 150 Gold = 1 Pack atleast 20 dust = 60 dust x2 300 Gold = 120 dust
