The S9 most certainly does go to Berlin Hauptbahnhof. It's quite slow, though.

Correction: S-bahn also take you to Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). But it's much slower than FEX (60 mins). Anyway thanks for the video, I've never tried FEX myself so I'm expecting it and your video helps!

You are right. At the time i was shooting the video i could not find a direct S-Bahn to central station. Last week i saw one in Berlin. But, yes, FEX ore local trains are still a better option to get to the center.

How does this compare to taking a taxi? Normally I always prefer public transport but if I'm arriving after a 10-hour flight I might prefer whatever gets me to my hotel the quickest (even if it's more expensive). I won't be renting a car and will be traveling by ICE trains for the rest of my trip but I'm wondering if this is the one exception where I should go by car. Thanks for your help, and for the video.

Good video. Thank you! Just a question. I´ll arrive this Thursday at Berlin Airport. I´ll take the FEX to Berlin Gesundbrunnen, and then combine it with the S1 to Anhalter. Do I need to take to get 2 tickets? One for the FEX and other to use the S-Bahn?

Hi, thanks. No, you just need one ticket from BER to Anhalter. The FEX is part of Berlins public transport ticket system.Enjoy Berlin!

Some informations in this video seem to be outdated. The line RB14 now terminates at Berlin Südkreuz, BER Station is not Part of the route anymore.

As i know there will be ICE Lines connecting the Airport. But for the Most destinations now you will have to Take the train to Central Station First.

Hi, Just a question since Im going to travel soon for first time with my wife to berlin. We will be having 3 to 4 luggages as well. Is there specific place in train to keep our luggage?

Hi Fatih, yes there is. This is the more scenic route that i was mentioning in the video. RE7 line ore the RB14 are running directly to Alexanderplatz. For example: RE7, 13:42 at plattform 2, RB 14, 13:59 at plattform 4. Very helfpful is the website of Deutsche Bahn: www.bahn.de ore you download the App "DB Navigator"

@@Reens-Rails It’s been a while since I was in Germany. And I remember having trouble using a credit card for the ticket terminals. It seemed like they would only take bank/debit cards or coins. Do you know if it’s still the case?

@@juliannesteele7082 The ticket machines should accept credit cards. The pandemic had a huge positive impact on the payment industry in germany (my full time job 😁). But, to be 100% on the safe site, I would reccomend you download the "DB Navigator"-App and create an account as a backup. There you can buy tickets for allmost every railway carrier in germany from bus rides to ICE trains. Hope you have a great time in germany!

@@spannaspinna hey, you might got me wrong or the sentence was a bit missleading. There is no "no luggage" rule. There is enough space in the FEX-trains. You can of course bring all the luggage you have 🙂

The information is out of date. Actually the S9 to Spandau will take you via central station (Hauptbahnhof).

You are absolutely right. Wasn't the case as i posted the video. But RE7/ RE14 and FEX takes only 31-36 minutes, S9 on the other hand needs over one hour to get to Hauptbahnhof. And its not even cheaper. I still think the regional trains are more conveniant.

I arrived at BER a few days ago with the intention of using the FEX train as shown on the video. There are no clear signs at the airport directing one to the FEX train. There are a number of platforms below the airport that are used by different types of trains. After some trial and error, I found the platform for the next FEX train and went to the Hauptbahnhof where I changed to an S-bahn train to reach my destination in the city. I am flying out of Berlin tomorrow and had planned to use the FEX train again. I went to the Hauptbahnhof today to scope it out and find out where I would board the FEX. I saw electronic signs with departures for international, national, regional and local trains but nothing on the FEX. I checked with DB information and was told that I didn’t need to take an FEX since a number of regional trains also go to the airport. That is not the information that I wanted. I finally found departures for the FEX posted on a large paper sign listing all departures from the station. Two FEX trains were supposedly departing within the next hour or so, one from platform 5, another from platform 4. I went to both platforms at the departure times, and neither platform had an FEX train. At this point I gave up any thought of taking the FEX. I’ll simply go to the airport on the S-bahn. It’ll take much longer, but at least I’ll get there. My advice to anyone wanting to go to BER on the FEX is this: good luck!

Hi Edward. The best way to get real time information is the DB Navigator App. If some things go wrong at Deutsche Bahn, the app has been the best source for informations. When are your planing to go to the BER tomorrow? I will look it up for you. I just took the FEX two weeks ago.

@@Reens-Rails You’re very kind to offer help. I actually had checked for FEX departures online before going to the station and found nothing helpful. As you know, the Hauptbahnhof is very large and complex. I went there today to avoid running around with luggage tomorrow and trying to find where to board the FEX. I would like to be at BER by 8:00 AM. If you can provide a departure time, that would be very nice. But after my experience today, I can’t help but wonder if the train will indeed be there.

@@edwardjones4870 Got it. 07:27 FEX18917 at plattform 5. You will be at BER 07:59 am. FEX trains are always going in and out the basement tracks. The Berlin Hauptbahnhof's design is....nice but not very logic when visiting the first time. And its a horror when you have to reach a close connecting train. Hope you had a good time in Berlin. 32 minutes seems quite slow. I guess the airport really is way out. Especially when compared to Frankfurt, 15 minutes will whisk you from the central station to the airport

That is correct. BER is 23 km from berlin central. IN Frankfurt the distance is only 11 km. But there will be an ICE link to BER in the future.
