I think i can attribute any of my personal progress as a producer to remaking sounds and even full on beats i hear online. Reverse engineering sounds is how you get the sounds YOU want with the body of what you already heard

most of the effects in serum is what u know from the effects that u put on the mixer when u mix other instruments or whatever. if u producin for long enough its easy to understand the effects on serum

for example the filter can be compared to a eq, envelope is the same envelope that u use on one shots (808s or hihats or whatever), lfo is like an automation that u can attach to everything, FXs are the same effects that u put on the mixer just in serum

Serum actually doesn’t take long to “learn” either. Literally play with each tool, figure out what it does, start making some sounds with it and boom ur literally already sound designing day 1. Just learn from there serum is super easy yall
