Your absolutely right. If you can fabricate your own wiring you can save a ton of money.

These esp8266 modules are $2 and the arduino ide can program them to be repeaters. I did 2 hops to my router with no problems.

What distance are they good for. If there was a directional model instead of omni directional they would be good for longer distances. It also only does 330kb/s...

@@Rowow they go about the same distance as a wifi router. I'm thinking of hooking some nicad batteries harvested from old cordless drills (when one cell goes bad, the rest are still good) and little solar panel. Nicad is safer than lithium. I never encountered a speed limitation: KZbin at 1080 still gets through fine which is plenty for me. They are only $2 on ebay. I have them running temp loggers, motion alarms, repeaters....working on an egg incubator with email/text alerts too. The low price makes so many projects come to life. Especially since there are example files to do all kinds of things. Lora is also an option: $9 to transmit 5km. Very low power and only 300 baud. Not for internet but custom communication needs: water tank low, greenhouse temp too high etc. What is your highest bandwidth need at your farm? Just curious

Nice! What kind of throughput are you getting from repeater to repeater? How much signal loss?

Havent tested it to its limit but plenty enough for my starlink satellite. Ill have a home server in the future so ill check it later. Signal loss is none except during heavy rains and I get a poor connected because I have a bunch of trees and brush between the two. I think if I clear it out then itll fix the issue

@@Rowow Thanks for getting back so quickly! I am interested in this. What kind of bandwidth are you getting with the Starlink? Does is fluctuate? Is there a data cap? Thanks!

@@joegallagher8261 I get about 80 down. There is a 1tb limit for peak time (daytime) which I and most other people never get anywhere near reaching and I have 3 people who watch KZbin and play video games
