Fantastic video. The vast majority of applicants, including myself, simply don’t understand the level of skill that and engagement that you need to have with this craft in order to get in. I recently looked at Royal Central’s current students and watched many of their clips on central’s website. Safe to say, it was clear that these people were not only ELITE actors but also elite individuals. All of them had multiple niche skills, from sports, to horse riding, dancing, singing, and a lot of them had several previous credits, be it amateur or professional. It was quite clear that these people were pretty much born into this. It was eye opening and it really inspired me to grow myself to be on their level and potentially get in as well .

Fantastic advice! I love your content because it is so practical, grounded and geniunely helpful. Also amazing to have the Aussie perspective making it even more relevant for me. Will definitely be looking at doing the StageMilk drama school program to prepare me for drama school auditions next year.

I also think it’s really important to educate yourself about the world of theatre: be aware of current trends and movements in the context of the theatre

Thanks for these amazing tips! I never did drama in high school, and am currently studying childcare, but I’ve always had a subconscious passion of interest for creative expression and drama (specifically theatre, musicals or commercials). Could your program help me decide if acting would be the right career path for me, through, workshops or special events/ open days, for example? 😃

Read plays as much as you can. Work on monologues and scenes in your own time and if you can get along to a local class.

I'm from Greece and I wanna go to an acting school in scotland. I've been in a drama club for 4 years and I've been in my school drama club as well since primery School. We've done exercises in the voice and the movement and we have worked on some scripts. But now with the corona virus I can't do any of this. I have another year till I'll have to audition for the school. Are those things that I have done enough? What else could I do to improve my portfolio? Please help me🙌

Really inspiring video I will definitely begin thinking about and acting on most of the things you have mentioned! I have a question though, I’m 14 with no experience other than in school and I’m looking at getting a teacher but is it true that you can’t become successful without connections? Because I have no connections but I’m so very passionate about it and I just wanted some clarity
@Amber-v2c2t

Don't worry about connections this young. If you get into drama school they will teach you how to make those connections and how to get agents. Some even invite them to see your final year show. I was in your boat a few years ago. Try and go to a drama 6th form that helped me unimaginabley. It's a toxic social atmosphere sometimes but then high school can be anyway, but the teaching is well worth it. Also look at LAMDA classes. They're 36 a month and are better training for me personally than my specialist 6th form was, and they're everywhere.

Thank you I'm going to the Open day next weekend, but I've noticed that a lot of people that have done that course have a 1 year Diploma at Waapa. Then done bachelor. Just wondering if there was anywhere else. Do you know if AIM (Australian Institute of music) has a good name? In case my Atar isn't so good. I really would love to go to Waapa but the distance is an issue I am on the Spectrum and not sure as yet im ready to move that far away from home. Melbourne is only 2 hrs from where I live.
@StageMilk
@StageMilk 2 жыл бұрын
@@kac3398 that’s good to hear. WAAPA is by far and away the leading MT program. But that makes total sense and is very far away. Then NIDA/VCA are strong options. All other schools are more teacher based - like if you connect with them. None will be that beneficial career wise. AIM is a fairly strong school though so definitely work some further research.

Thank you I went to VCA open day and AIM. Wow VCA was so good. Very professional. I will definitely apply for that. AIM was not one I could see myself getting any growth from. The third year students did not seem to be industry ready. But VCA WOW! They could be in any professional show. I can see the benefit of Open days. I have decided to do a Gap year and work/volunteer in the Theatre industry. Learn life skills and do mini-workshops at Melbourne Nida/Vca and dance lessons. My Vocal and drama are good but not so my dance. Then apply for VCA, Griffith QLD and Waapa for 2024. Thank you.

Many successful actors are very shy because acting means you can play a different person and that person can be confident so don’t worry

Just keep going. Take time to take care of yourself. Take small steps to push you slowly out of your comfort zone and try and take steps to develop your self confidence every day. Say hello to strangers, reward yourself if you do well speaking up in your acting group. Just take small steps and slowly you will see your confidence growing and remember why you are acting, that should motivate you.
