G'day mates! I'm in NZ at the GGG studios prepping for the QnA stream tomorrow having quite a blast with everthing I've seen and tried so far. Thankfully Amy was able to finish the editing on this while I am gone 👏 ayy Amy! I got a bit emotional editing this at midnight before I left when I was looking at the trailers, some of my fav art cards and the old clips of me from Innistrad launch 🥲 it's been a good time and glad wizards reached out all those years ago to invite me to try the game - it's been my longest hobby that's stuck around outside of gaming and they've been my longest consistent sponsors over the years. I hope this helps a few people get into the hobby and maybe I can play a game with some of you someday! ❤

Reading the card explains the card is much nicer than: recently, nearby, nearish, sometime, somplace, and whatever else PoE has gotten us used to 😂

i tried playing MTG arena a while back, the problem i faced is that it was hard to get a good deck that could win ranked, or that could relatively easily farm gold/resources etc. And when i had gotten decently good decks a new season rolled out and i could not use the previous decks anymore to the same extent, and i had a very hard time finding budget decks or decks that i could invest in and keep playing for a long time, i don´t even know if this game offers just that, decks that you can play for a very long time and still be good.
@ZiggyDGaming7 күн бұрын
There are timeless formats where cards don't rotate out! Both for regular play and brawl. For the rotating "standard" formats you get that tradeoff of more fresh meta but cards phasing out after a while (few years) .
@Monna77777777 күн бұрын
@@ZiggyDGaming okay, but in the timeless formats won´t i face much stronger decks? Do you have any recommendations for strong decks in the timeless formats, just to get a beginner like me started to be able to farm resources for really strong decks in the timeless format?

Well, you got me lookin', shame I just dropped 200 buckaroo's on the core supporter pack for PoE, but you're still making MTG tempting. The biggest hold back's for me are that I generally don't have that active of a social life that I have people to play with (also being single don't help) and the other issue is WoTC. I am a D&D player and I know all too well how badly WoTC can screw up and I know they have done for MTG as well. Makes me hesitant to start MTG specifically. Any insights on that from your end? I know they're a sponsor and all, but hoping you can shed some light on it.

GGG is a much better company to give money to than WotC
@DayOfCasual9 күн бұрын
@@thealliedhacker you don't have to give money to WotC, you can buy secondary market singles. Also, all companies are bad to give money to, cuz capitalism lul.

@@BWSSoldya MtG like many hobbies is a good place to start a social life imo! You can play without via arena and events at stores, and the in person events are a great place to meet people. If I was trying to kickstart a social life a social in person hobby like MTG or DnD is where I'd start, much more likely to find people you'd enjoy spending time with and it acts as an icebreaker. Wotc, like any brand has had their missteps and successes - I think how well foundations turned out is a very positive signal they can make a great game people want to play. and if i felt otherwise I wouldn't keep coming back and doing different sponsored promos with them.

Is the entry point the same for MTG Arena as well? I don't have many friends and honestly I suck at making them so my only option is on Arena - is there a video for that entry or could you make one on Arena? (just wanted to edit to clarify I have played all the Arena color challenges but I still get slaughtered when trying to play people lol)
@ZiggyDGaming17 сағат бұрын
From your point learning to be more comfortable playing Arena is much the same as paper - the main differences come down to Brawl and Alchemy being Arena unique formats and how you go about building a collection. But it's essentially the same game. That said, the MTGA subreddit is good and there are lots of decklists and guides for MTGA on YT. Is there a particular thing you think you're stuck on in games? Deckbuilding? How to play out early turns etc?

He certainly does haha - he showed me his COMPREHENSIVE land collection. At one point he had almost every single land! And he has a pretty sweet misprint set and some black lotuses as well too. He set me up with a vintage deck to play against Jonathan one time - I played a "Prison" deck, it's a whole different kinda MTG lol. Haven't seen Chris this trip yet.
