Thank you so much for this video. I'm an artist as well (photographer). However I'm 34 and just had my first child and I will do whatever I have to, to give my daughter a good life. I'm starting pre-reqs this summer without a huge interest in math and science but I know once I finish we will be straight. My daughter isn't quite 2 so I was thinking about an online program or accelerated due to my age. I just hope I don't hate it. Its nice to see so many black women in Pharmacy
@JenniferBarimah7 жыл бұрын
This made my heart smile. once you are done with the math and science part of your pre-reqs, you will have just a little science and math in pharmacy school so you should be fine. This is to motivate you that pre-reqs will be tough sometimes to the point that u would want to change your major but pls don't give up. I feel in my heart that u will make it. If you have any questions about the accelerated pathway(both on campus and online), pls don't hesitate to write me on here or on anyone of my social media site in the description box. GOOD LUCK HUN

Does it matter how long it takes you to do your pre-reqs?
@rashadheyward6 жыл бұрын
some schools have a year gap limit on your pre-reqs.
@chippychompy63246 жыл бұрын
@@rashadheyward oh do you mean like you have a year to take the pharmacy exam from the date you finished all your pre-reqs?😁
@rashadheyward6 жыл бұрын
lets say you took organic chemistry in 2010 then decided to change your major n go to rx school a couple of years later. in 2017 you take pre-req for rx school but did not take organic chemistry again because you took it in 2010. You will get full credit for this class at your collage BUT some rx schools might tell you that you have to take it again because its been too long since you took it no matter what your grade is.usually from what i seen rx school gives you credit for like 10 years lol (i hope that makes sense lol)

Are there opportunities for pharmacist to make a little extra money. they make a good bit already but say you wanted to leverage your income as a pharmacist. could you do it?
@JenniferBarimah7 жыл бұрын
Im sure there are a bit of opportunities out there depending on the company you work with after you graduate. Also u can go for extra degrees like MBA which will help you move up. but its definitely not guaranteed. would have to look more into it and get back to you.

Does the Pharmacy school curriculum involve a lot of general chemistry and organic chemistry?

Not in the program but it's required prior to pharmacy school

Where did you go to school if you don't mind me asking
@JenniferBarimah7 жыл бұрын
Hey hun, I went to school in Long island University located in NY for my pre-requisites. They have a 6 year Pharmacy program so they say but you may use 2-4 years to complete all the required pre-reqs and 4 years for the actual pharmacy program. After your pre-reqs, you may apply to the schools of your choice including Long island University. Currently, I am in an accelerated Pharmacy school(3years instead of 4 years) here in the United states which I'm a little hesitant to mention on here since i haven't graduated yet, but you can contact me on any of my social media sites in my description and i will give you more details.
@Angelxbaby887 жыл бұрын
Okay, I understand! Did you have to take PCAT? I can't wait to see other videos of your experience.
@JenniferBarimah7 жыл бұрын
yes i did. thanks hun will definitely not disappoint
@Angelxbaby887 жыл бұрын
Thank yu. I asked about the PCAT because the schools that I have seen that offers the accelerated program don't require the PCAT. But accelerated program sounds tough.
@JenniferBarimah7 жыл бұрын
that is correct. i was not lucky because during the time i applied, they required the PCAT but not anymore for this year and the years to come. Also, i was looking at other schools during the time so i had no choice but to take the PCAT. if u don't want to take the PCAT you will be fine because a lot of school are dropping that part of the process anyway so look at the schools that don't require it.
