I am just returning from the hospital. More than half of the nurses and doctors I met were no native German speakers. But they obviously have a lot of contact with "customers" and need to be able to speak their language. Actually all of the "foreigners" I know speak German/the local language more or less fluently, at least after some time. When I was hiring IT personal, I did not care for the level of German the applicants already knew but I expected to be convinced that they were going to learn the local language shortly.

Moving to Germany made easy! I have been looking into applying for a job seeker visa in person in Germany (allowed as an American.) I had never heard anyone say they thought it was easier to find a job ahead of time, not in person. Have you heard that the German government is considering extending the job seeker visa from 6 months to 12 months?
@Waleochronicles2 жыл бұрын
I Dont know if they are planning to increase the length. If they are that'll be a good thing. depending on your industry, (especially tech) you can actually get a job from your home country and move to Germany for that job.
@vinorasmith478 Жыл бұрын
Hi @kleefan8 I'm an American to living currently in Lisbon. Do you know if we can go to Germany directly to look for work or do we need to obtain a visa in our home country first?
@kleefan8 Жыл бұрын
@@vinorasmith478 My understanding is, for most countries you need to apply in your country. But for a small group of countries, including the US, you are allowed to apply in person for a job seeking visa when visiting Germany. That allows you to stay 6 months (according to the current rules). But also you can look for work in Germany while there as a tourist, as far as I know.
