How to Get Kids Keen to Surf Again

Axel has been not wanting to surf as much lately and that is fine. We definitely don't want to force him or push him.
However we do know that he loves it and when he gets going he is hard to get him out of the water.
So we offered him a few different approaches.
Although it's still a little cold here on the Gold Coast, we know that putting on his warm full suit can be a bit of a chore and put him off surfing at times. So we challenged him if he could get his shorter spring suit on by himself. He was able to do it and it was fun and an accomplishment for him.
And we told him we could just have fun boogie boarding together which is a very safe and fun thing for him rather than having the pressure of surfing which can be a bit overwhelming and possible involve a wipeout.
We took our MF Super EVA Softboard without fins in the plan to just catch waves on it with him and maybe he would ride it.
However we started skimboarding and it was such a great way to have fun while getting past that initial getting into the cold water stage which can also sometimes make him not want to get into the water.
He loved it and we are sure to keep doing this at the beginning of our sessions to keep things fun and easy.
