preciate the tip about deleting the large washer / dust cover from the setup. as an older rider who got started in the 90s i've just always ran them out of habit and never really considered that it may be hindering things more than helping. keep the tips coming, appreciate the content fam.

Get rid of the hat washer!. Ive got a bike with an alignment problem I couldn’t seem to fix. That simple trick made all the difference. Thank you. .

Always like your videos. So, ditching the drive side dust cover if necessary leaves the bearing exposed but it doesn’t matter because it’s sealed? Got it. The smaller spacers then rest against the bearing race that’s on the axle? Does that affect the pressure against the bearings when you tighten your cranks? Thanks for the video 👍🏻
@Stackedbmx Жыл бұрын
Negative. The cone touches the same exact part of the bearing and dirt still touches that seal. The cone just looks cool even though you can’t see it behind the sprocket.

@@Stackedbmx yeah, I totally get it now. I pulled the cover on my 22” ATF, added a smaller spacer and the chain runs so much smoother. It’s amazing what a few mm adjustment will do. Keep doing your thing bro, those of us who know appreciate your efforts 😎

When I was shopping for bottom brackets, I noticed that Odyssey did not include the drive side dust cover. It's the reason I chose a different brand. Now I know why it's not there.

I bought that exact same bike, the Connor Keating pro complete and I put the stock spacer on the drive side and my chain was very misaligned. My chain felt too tight. This video was much needed much thanks.

Dude thanks for the tip on losing the cone spacer... i was considering grinding down the excess gap created by the sprocket adapter... your solution was a much better idea.

To be honest this was helpful altho I never thought chain alignment could mess up your bike so I gotta check mine out

It can wear the teeth on the sprocket to where there sharp and thin then if you happen to do a sprocket stall or accedenly bash it the teeth will break off especially if your sprocket is 6061t6 so get it inline and vet that 7000 series aluminum like 7005 or 7075 and thing in 7000 series is better

On my bike, I use the cone dust cover and no spacers and it has good chain line.

So I don’t need the dust cap that covers the Bearing ?
@Stackedbmx3 ай бұрын
The cone is not a dust cap, it is a spacer

I deleted the hat and it caused chain to hit my sprocket guard in one spot in rotation. The other day I added the hat washer back and it still rubs, i think the sprocket keeps going on crooked by i can't seem to get it to stay straight
@Stackedbmx3 ай бұрын
Check the chain alignment without the chain on. Add or subtract spacers to make it straight. Your cranks might be bent causing it to wobble
