Here is a medium length video explaining how to get power into your tiny house. You can either plug it into a regular 110 volt outlet or you can plug it into a solar panel system. Or you can wire it for large items like a dryer or electric oven/range.

Congratulations! I'm a broke 39 year old in negotiations on a property with someone else's beginnings of a tiny house. 😄 Have you found the cost of timber and other materials to still be skyhigh? I've been a little concerned about that and will likely focus on developing the land first (I have a camper to live in in the meantime), and hopefully be able to wait it out until prices come back down.

@@lisakukla459 Yep! I read that there have been between 20 and 30 saw mills burned down since fall of last year. Thus - the huge material cost! My wife, Deanna, and I are building an Earthship Biotecture style home in Northern Nevada.

@@rongray4118 It's not really the sawmills. There was a beetle infestation that was going to destroy the crop, so they all cut everything down before they could lose it and flooded the market last year. So now timber is in shorter supply. That's so cool about your doing an earthship!! So much design brilliance and labor goes into those. I cannot imagine how overwhelmingly satisfied you will surely feel when it's complete. I hope I get to see one in person one day, but until then, I'll keep being awestruck via KZbin.

Hey man I'm a broke s.o.b. looking to do the same. did you just buy some cheap land and start doing it? Also gimme a brief run down on what I need to look for . I'm great with my hands and construction. My biggest fear is buying land and start doing it. Then having town workers come in and saying thats not code, you can't have animals on this property, illegal dwelling, blah,blah, blah... You know the " NO" sayers! Cute boy, 🏠 They make RV ( recreational vehicle ) conversation plug adapters. 240 volt to 120 volt in 30 and 50 amp. By the way you are not supposed to double tap that main lug panel box. What if the home is moved and the next guy plugs into a 240 volt circuit ? Answer, dead short and breaker tripped. You are making it difficult for the next guy to figure out what you did. This is why we have standard Electrical Codes in electrical. 🤔 🇺🇸

If you do build your own tiny house you should do so with emt conduit inside the walls as it is upgradable and serviceable

Just make sure you don't have too much electrical draw from your whole house for whatever outlet you are plugging in to. Usually I only have two to three devices/lights on at a time.

Good idea. Been in older homes made before electronics were a big thing and boy those breakers would go! Usually there is one outlet per room and that's it.

I only saw one thing not correct. You said you used a cord from your 50 amp cord cap to the 15 amp one. What you used is cable not cord. Over time sunlight will deteriorate that cable. Flexible cord would be better and NEC compliant. They are made and sold for RV’s. Also adapters to do what you did.

It would if the house didn't have wheels and was on a permanent foundation. It is considered more an RV ( recreational vehicle ).
