Peru has one of the lowest homicide per 100k people in Latin America (4.5) during 2023. No water shortage , power outages or internet cut off, except only during maintainance. New building + houses have natural gas connection what is 1/2 cheaper than gas cylinder. Peru has overproduction of electricity, no serious droughts as has happened across Latin America. 99% of food is obtained here ( fish, poultry, red meat, vegetables, fresh fruits all year around, etc ). Lima and in any mayor coastal city we can get a full-sunny-day during winter time going straight to the East for about 30 to 60 minutes by car.

In Mexico I was able to qualify for temp/perm resident visa based on how much I had in savings and brokerage accounts for the last year. I retired in my 50s so not yet eligible for social security. Is it possible for me to get a long term visa in Peru with just proof of funds?

Peru doesn’t have dollars. Their currency is Sol. So it’s an annual income of $15,000 US dollars or $1,250 a month.
