When I listen to you it all makes sense, but when I do a map on my own (while being Brain afk) I don't do half of the stuff I should do. I just alch, do increased rarity, maybe a rusted scarab and a sacrifice fragment. I don't spend chaos on ambush etc cause why would I waste that on my high yellow / low red tier map. I go for back for that single pack at the edge of the map, I don't use my flask efficiently / or not at all until I see my life dip, I don't do quicksilver / movement skills often enough etc. After the boss I leave the map with a few times the loot you can see on the ground in the intro. Eventually I level up and get some atlas points at a frighteningly low pace. I'm only 300 hours in but that's what I'm working on right now and it is harder than expected to get rid of bad habits. Thanks for putting up these awesome videos :) I think it would be fun to see you coach someone good mapping habits. E.g footage of some guy mapping and then your advice followed by them mapping again (but with a lot more style and loot hopefully)

Focus on improving on one thing at a time and if you're worried about the "zana" map device options being a waste of money you can use something like exilence next to track your gains and see how much of an increase you get. I would suggest first thing to focus on improving is getting rid of the kind of FOMO "what if running all the way to kill this last 15-20 monsters in a map drops something good?" and just going for more raw efficiency of time, etc. Something I've struggled with too and also ignoring a league mechanic on a map that ended up being too rough to safely fully clear

@@NafenX I'm sure the mods are worth it on red maps but are they worth it on low rolled yellow maps? There aren't any studies on that lol and I'm not patient enough to do them myself. Don't really have a FOMO of killing all the mobs, I'm just in the (bad) habit of killing the the last 30 mobs inefficiently before leaving the map when only 5 -15 are left. That said right now I'm very busy with doing my degree so I can't really FOCUS at all. Might need to do a break for a while anyway. Thanks though I appreciate the help :)

@@towb0at I’m obviously not the person you replied to, but as someone who spent a long time farming T10 maps this league to get currency, I can attest that at least the ambush and harbinger missions are worth it. This is coming from someone who also worried about the “worth” of these missions for a long time. What’s helpful to consider is that even if the additional raw chaos drops don’t cover the cost of the mission, there are plenty of other sources that can benefit. 2 extra 6 socketed items sells for 14 jewelers or 1c, an orb of annulment sells for 2c, or an exalted shard is the equivalent of about 6-7c depending on exchange rates. So even if the number of chaos orbs in your stash is going down when you’re using the missions vs not, the value is actually higher once you start selling!

Probably the biggest game changer for me was deciding I no longer cared what the initial cost of running a map was. If I need scarabs, I'll blow every chaos in my stash and buy 100. I realized I had just been afraid that if I invested in every map, I'd be broke forever. But I was already broke, and the game is designed assuming you will invest in every map. 4 scarabs, 4 sextants, 4 chisels, no exceptions. I did that for a week and quickly realized that 200c I was spending half of on scarabs was now 1000c and I was trying to buy ex fast enough to not lose my ass when the price went up. Another realization I've been coming too is that the game really isn't complicated, it's just beneficial for GGG and about 2 dozen streamers and TFT titans that you believe the game is complicated. If everyone knew you could have 95% of what the 1% has without doing all the dorky shit they do to make currency, well the content creators would be out of job, and GGG would have to actually defend their inane game design choices and weird diablo 2 boners in the light of day, instead of hiding behind the fabricated complexity of the game. If you stop viewing the items you pick up as currency, and view them merely as game pieces, which you can assemble to increase the fun factor of your maps, you quickly realize alot of the complexity is related to the market and the way people describe it. , not the game mechanics themselves. I think you are my number one of the best content creator right now with your attitude. I've seen many many how to farm currency in different way like delirium+nemesis+beyond+alva or whatever. This took me so much energy with 10 fps and I try so hard to be very concentrated and I got burn out map after map. And your attitude you just said in video just brighten me PLAY WHAT YOU ENJOY AND HAPPY. Right now, I'm back to alc&go strat with Jun,conqueror,maven and some stuff and I just feel so COMFORTABLE. This strat may not the fastest way to generate currency but I just enjoy with it undoubtedly. Thanks for your content mates.

Last league I played 8h a day and made 0 to hundres of exalts farming until Nem3. In the moment I finish the frist nem3 map I looked into all the 19 left and gave up, sold everything e gave up qnd started simulacrum that I discoverd I loved. This is what is about, dont burn out and have fun

This.is.it!!!! Nothing to add... every league there is an army of lemmings who just obsessively follow the current meta hyper farming strat and end quitting the game (so some of my friends). People need to understand that you make currency by just playing this game. Do what you like and learn the game. I love finding/crafting niche items which sell pretty well, discover something new, improve my understanding of the game and not being a meta slave. Relax dudes and have fun. Plus... you don't need a mirror for a good build. If you do, you don't know the game.

Appreciate the mindset on this. I've bounced off PoE a lot since beta and the endgame never got its hooks into me until 3.16. I didn't get too far then but I'm a little over halfway into the Atlas now and enjoying it. The currency issue does get into some gigabrain stuff that's way over my skill/knowledge, and even those seem to dry up quickly once folks catch onto them. Trying to get into those just led to me feeling frustrated more than anything. I definitely feel like I'm pinching pennies but enjoy the mapping experience overall. I'll be respeccing the Atlas tree and giving this route a crack.

Thanks a lot for bringing up this topics. I'm in the same mental state and seeking for a good gaming experience that gives me stable currency to upgrade my gear while also enjoying the content. Unfortunately, for now doing 28 maps and selling the inv is the only thing in my mind. I really like other content like blight, heist, expedition, but they all require setup, optimized with good investment, and running in the bulky way. Losing a blight map, a heist or killed in expedition can ruin my day. Really hoping these league content can be refactored in the similar way as alc and go. Low investment, self-sustainable, low cost on failure, and diverse choice.

Honestly, this is the first league I have managed to complete the ATLAS (few unique maps missing), I have enough scarabs to use almost every map and if I run harbringer (specced in atlas tree) I get 4 exalt shards on average per map. This is a new poe peak income! Who knows, maybe in a month I will be crafting with exalts!

Really appreciated the sentiment behind this. I started playing in Expedition, and I was stoked when I saw a chaos drop, and happy when I saw a Rain of chaos card. Today I was debating whether I wanted to go pick up a chaos shard and realised my current filter hides the low value chaos cards. I think your recent videos on bringing back the importance of fun in games are really well timed, especially in this league where you really have a lot of options.

I play SSF, it lets me play the game to have fun. I'm not buying my build, and getting finished in 3 days. Instead I play the league, and never finish my build. It's not about reaching the finish line. It's a game. It's about having fun, and the journey is the fun. If making currency is the only thing you find fun, why play a game? Just go make real money. Just a thought.

after getting all the voidstones, I opted into incursion/betrayal with strongbox and essences on the side while also doing the 50%+ adjacent map drop while doing cemetery & coves, and what I do is I do alva mission on cemetery(juiced) and then jun missions on coves(alch and go), alva makes me money because you can now sell temples and as for jun I just love betrayal (current goal is dropping a paradoxica and unveiling my own) and with this setup im having a blast just popping the whole screen with my cf champ

I'm also of the opinion that deli just isn't that fun and even can detract from my fun in a map, but as a player who doesn't really like trading too much I feel like every league mechanic I don't pay attention to is a lose of some kind of specific item/currency gain... And now with the huge Atlas passive tree, I've realised that I actually dislike MOST of the league mechanics for one reason or another 😹 When it was region based trees, at least it was like "welp, this league mechanic is the lesser of the evils in this region, so I'll allocate those nodes", but with the Atlas wide tree it's like been really hard to decide what to do.

One thing I repeatedly mess up and makes me feel like I am making no currency in the beginning is that I save things for later. Once I stop doing that I magically start making more currency. I gotta remember that it's a bad mindset since when I need those things later they'll probably have fallen in price. The way you feel about delirium is the way I feel about delve, it's terrible but so is trading for resonators in my experience. Also having fun makes making profit feel like less of a chore which makes everything better. I am currently just running low tier maps for ease and just sell essences and various lucky drops, no stress. Will I have a HH tomorrow? Probably not but I am not stressed out and that's what matters.

Literally farming my ass off for currency is why I burn out. I've started playing ssf which I'm enjoying, but could be just because I haven't done it before and not sure how I feel about going full ssf. In trade league my fun always turns into a mindless game of how much currency can I make today when I log in. Then I have to then sit in my hideout and play trade simulator or leave my maps to trade since my trader quit the league already.

I’ve never done delirium because of the fps drop and stressful play style of needing to rush through the map. Beyond I also don’t like except in spurts(when it happens to roll on the map) because it makes the map take so long.

Your mileage may vary but I didn't have particularly good time running maps w/ gilded meta scarabs for the "slay 60 monsters in Tane's lab" challenge. There are just too many issues with it right now. Scarab and essence rewards from metamorph are wack because of how easy it is to get essences and scarabs from other sources. Essences from meta are always screaming, I didn't see a single shrieking/deafening or any of the corrupted essences. Scarab rewards are generally alright but one operative strongbox drops more scarabs than five scarab reward organs would from meta, and those scarab organs aren't super common either. 6-link organ reward is very rare and most of the time it's just some low tier unique that might net you just a bit more than what the divine orb is right now. Catalyst, currency shards and currency organs are your best source of money but even after doing 60 metas in the lab, all the meta monsters in maps and vendor recipe to shuffle all the bad catalyst; I only got few stacks of the most profitables ones (like maybe 30c a stack at the time). Without a lucky 6-link agnerod staff and iron commander drop (neither from a 6-link organ btw), I think most of my profits would've been somewhere under 5 exalts, and that is not very good considering how many maps it took to get 60 monsters in the lab. Also the worst part about Metamorph is that you sometimes get maps where you only get one piece of a certain organ part, meaning you won't be able to assemble a second metamorph. It doesn't always happen but often enough to be irritating, maybe once in every 8 maps. For the 12 points (+connecting nodes) you need to invest into best meta nodes in atlas, they're probably best spent somewhere else.

That's super interesting. I seen a few videos about going hard in metamorph in other league and it often felt similar to how you explained it. I was most intrigued by the fact that you can make multiple metamorphs in one map but considering the fact that it sometimes just bricks itself is pretty underwhelming.
