If your cat isn't using the litter box then there's a problem your cat is trying to tell you. It could be stress in the household, too many cats, not enough boxes, a dirty box, bad box location, too much activity in the house or other causes that can cause a cat stress. Another very common issue with cats is UTI. Too much dry food can cause urinary issues. It hurts to pee, so cats look for other locations to go pee. This is an infection and should be seen by a vet, once the issue is resolved please make sure to give your cat a high protein, meat based, wet food.

@TheSathandra4 жыл бұрын
@@marinajade8519 Yes, First check to see if it is an UTI. It hurts to pee, They associate the litter box with pain, most likely the most common cause for peeing outside the box. Dry food is the leading cause for urinary infections, after the vet check, make sure to put your cat on a mainly wet food diet. Avoid any with meat BY product/food coloring's, to AVOID some of the most toxic foods on the market. High meat protein is a requirement for good health. Some brands you could look for, Pride, Primal, Stella and Chewy, Poke Bowl, Instinct, Weruva, Taste of the Wild, Fresh pet select, Acana/Orijen, Mature Health - Home Again, Honest Kitchen, NomNom, Ziwi to name a few, if you're on a low budget, you can also feed a better diet every other day/week in addition of their regular food, though brands like Meow Mix, 9Lives, Friskies, Iams, and store brands should be avoided at all cost. If you have a cat that has chronic UTI, ask your vet about D.MANNOS. If it's not a UTI then it could be something in the home causing stress, from your bf or roommate, to scented candles, household cleaners, or the lack of safe spots - cats like to go high up, so tall cat towers, wall shelves, or cozy hiding spot's are some things one can look into to make a cat feel more secure. When switching a cats food - DO it Gradually - as switching to suddenly can make them feel ill (digestive issues, adding probiotics can help - Dr Mercola Pets, Fortiflora). Take some of the new food, and add it to their regular meal and increase dosage over time. Feeding a variety of brands/flavors can help overall health. One can make homemade meals BUT it requires thorough research to make sure all nutrients requirements are met Video on the quality of pet food found in stores; It's an older video, though still an important one kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJWngZxjZr6dr5I

Best actual personal review I've ever seen!! Thank you. Having been down the road for 50 years... let me advise... go straight for the Live Pee Free ya all. Even if it's a small bottle. Once you use it you'll see that couches mattresses, clothes, and flooring cost more to replace than this stuff does to eliminate the odor. All enzymatic cleaners have a short shelf life... you never know how long it's been sitting there. Too many have just as bad a smell as the urine itself... and when it doesn't work, the smells combined are nauseating!! I just ordered $500 worth of LPF and I don't regret a penny. I can't afford to replace $1000's worth of furniture and cat beds/toys... I'm so glad I found this video I just knew there had to be something else out there ... thank you for your sharing! Enzyme cleaner: Contains enzyme and bacteria that break down the Uris acid crystals. Example product: Mr. max’s anti icky poo. Don’t pretreat with any other cleaners first. Soak the area. Ion based odor eliminator: one of the fastest ways to remove odor. Product suggestion: “Live per free” this is odor free. 20% off with link in the video description. Invest black light to identify where exactly the stain is. It will also help to verify that everything is gone after cleaning.

On the chemistry side, uric acid is actually water soluble although on the low side. It's solubility increases in hot water but of course can spread it around and if not sufficiently flushed can create the potential for re-crystalisation over a wider area although in a more diluted form. Just saying because in chemistry accuracy of information is essential. I have a massive problem with around 5 local cats pissing and shitting in our garden, I'd really prefer a cat eliminator bu as it stands I'd rather get the smell gone then concentrate on the cats. This right to roam/shit/piss rule needs to be looked at and make owners responsible for their animals.

Great video. Thanks for explaining what’s in cat urine and why enzymatic cleaners are best option. I agree!!! Nothing else works like the enzyme cleaner. My cat has crystals in his bladder so that’s why he has been peeing outside his litter box. Please take your cat in if he’s doing this! It’s more common in male cats. Feed wet food. Only water with filtered or distilled water. Tap water has too much build up in it.

Our cat lives outside. She kinda came with the house when we bought it. She was laying on the front porch as we were moving in. I shoo'd her away several times. She kept coming back. Finally I decided to get her some bowls and feed her. She's a good girl. Bought her a heated cat house for last winter. She seemed to really like it, but I caught other cats in there many times and I think they peed in it a lot because it smells awful and I always saw her pee in the yard. Spring and summer came so she slept elsewhere, no problem, now it's getting cold at night again and I don't want to have to buy a new cat house because that one smells and she doesn't like going in there anymore, so this might be just the ticket to clean it up. I tried using bleach to clean the heating pad, and washed the cover, a few months back, but it seemed to do very little to combat the smell.

I personally use a mixture of bleach and peroxide with hot water. Not enough bleach to actually bleach anything, but enough to eradicate any smell. I also go in with straight vinegar either before or after the bleach/peroxide . If you use a black light use it before spraying bleach. Also you can use perxoide to find spots you may have missed. The perxoide will react to all biologicals. If you are still smelling it after all that, you missed spots. Check walls and other vertical surfaces.

Can I get a ratio bleach to peroxide to water please. Thanks
@girl6girl64 жыл бұрын
@@Qui7422 i dont know the exact ratio, i just eyeball it. For example if I'm using an empty windex bottle or similar i usually do about 1.5 - 2inch of bleach, 1 or 2inches of peroxide, then fill the rest of the bottle with hot water. My guess is that an inch is about an ounce. If it bubbles alot before you finish filling with water, squeeze the bottle so the excess bubbles come out. You can actually sqeeze those bubbles onto a problem area, spray it as well, and let it sit for a bit. The spray is really good too for when you cant exactly pinpoint where it happend. I'll just spray everything and i dont have to worry about fabric getting bleached (but please spot check your mixture before using).

A couch is a difficult place to remove urine odors from, since the urine sinks into the fabric and into the fibers within. Use dawn 4x platinum dish soap for second cleaning. Use luke warm water in spot buster. 4. Use oxy pure for this run. Warm water in spot buster. 5. Pour natures miracle directly on pee spot generously and LET AIR DRY. 6. After air dry hit with arm and hammer laundry detergent with HOT water in spot cleaner. Let air dry. 7. This is pretty late so I'm sure you found a fix, but Live Pee Free is safe to use on pets. I've used it on my dog before. Not always permanent if it's BO because the pet can produce more if it isn't cleaned properly, but I would be willing to bet it would work good for pet urine on a pet

Do I have to completely clean area before putting enzymes on...in advance thank you..
@Wildernesscat4 жыл бұрын
No, you don't, it's actually best not to apply any other cleaning products before the enzymes since they could render the enzymes ineffective. Just blot up the stain as well as you can, and then apply the enzymes as indicated on the bottle. Hope this helped and let me know if you have any more questions!

What method would work on spreads (used to cover furniture to protect from cat scratches) that have been treated with an enzymatic product (allowed to dry) and then laundered only to have them come out of the dryer with an odor that even humans can smell?

What brought me to you is looking for someone other than those delusional people who think vinegar does everything. For me it absolutely does not. I have tried it on hard water stains and no change whatsoever so I am very cynical of those who seem to think vinegar works on everything. Just keep it in salad dressing where it belongs is what I say to them! My cat must be doing her thing near the side of the box. It is a large enough box, regularly scooped and maybe she just likes being near the side of it. I know cats can be weird at times. Maybe this is an example. Her box is in the cellar on concrete. You would not know there is anything in the air if you are used to it and walked in and out actively expecting to notice it and looking for it. It would be kinda like those dumb people on cat litter commercials who hold their nose above it and comment on how it stinks. Of course it stinks then and a lot of those commercials are overly dramatic really considering they are not like this in their real life.

To your knowledge, can LPF or Icky Poo be sprayed into duct work safely and effectively. I've traced the odor to a duct, and I've washed the duct receiver and vent (wood floor) but the odor, as you've pointed out persists, and the pet is revisiting it - maddeningly so! Any suggestions?

So with the enzyme cleaner you had said the bacteria dies after sitting around not used. Why have that huge bottle then? It's so expensive but if it'll just go bad whats the point. I guess the big jug would be meant for a cat who pees alot? In my case, my cat has a problem with peeing in the box & he either steps in it or it splashes him or he pees on himself. He then walks around with his pee paws. Even that is sooo stinky & clings to everything. But it doesnt happen often is my point. How long would you say that bottle can sit un used before going bad? I should probably get the little spray bottle.

After using a simple solution extreme urine destroyer, and letting it set. Do I mop the floors
@thatfeeble-mindedboy Жыл бұрын
I started by using liquid Rid-X, and it worked way better than anything I had tried before. Over many years of experimenting with all kinds of chemicals and methods, what I’ve settled on is this: while the end process is actually a digestive process that disassembles the long chain protein molecules that cause cat urine to be such a challenge, I am a firm believer in the concept that SOME components of the contamination are, in fact, ‘soluble’, and you really should remove all the things present that CAN be removed by ‘conventional’ methods so all further work can be concentrated on the remainder, that is, the part that can ONLY be removed by the more exotic means. My experience is that simple ammonia dissolves more of the components of urine than anything else I’ve tried. Long appreciated as one of the most potent de-greasers you can get, it is profoundly alkaline (base- the opposite of acidic; high pH, etc.) which may be why it dissolves urine so well, I’m not sure, but it’s what I use to remove as much as can be removed by a simple procedure. Since Rid-X worked so well, I looked around and did some research, and concluded that the least expensive way to get the largest quantity of the most aggressive enzymes and specialized bacteria was in the form of products sold for the purpose of treating the “holding tanks” of RV’s (campers), very similar to septic tanks, to break down and deodorize … well, what goes down the toilet … pee and poop, right? So I went down to Walmart and got a jug of holding tank treatment boasting high populations of the appropriate microbes, a variety of enzymes, but also a powerful citrus -oil-based surfactant that coincidentally gave it a quite pleasant orange smell. The next step is very difficult… you apply liberal amounts of a 50/50 solution of enzyme liquid and water, (I used a garden pump-sprayer) and absolutely drench the carpet, pad, all the way down to soaking the concrete slab, even walk on it to force it in, seriously, I’m talking sopping wet; and then, against every instinct you have, cover the entire area with plastic; giant lawn and leaf bag, painter’s drop “cloth”, (I found some HUGE 9x12 static cling plastic sheet drops in the paint department, and dirt cheap, too), and covered the whole area … wrong as it seems, you’re trying to prevent evaporation. It’s not going to mold or mildew, grow mushrooms, rot, or fester - trust me … just don’t scrimp on the enzyme. It’s eating up mold spores along with everything else. Leave that wet and covered, walking on it even helps, I think, for at least three days and use as little AC as you can live with. After it’s cooked as long as you decided to let it; I’d say at least 3 days, but probably no more than a week, then take up the plastic and go after it with a wet vac or carpet extractor and pull out as much as you can. When it completely dries, you should detect no odor at all except maybe a faint orange fragrance. DO NOT RINSE IT. The little bit that remains is what will preserve your work, and be reactivated if it gets wet again. One last point, any product that is marketed specifically to pet owners is automatically going to be marked way up in price. Find out what the active ingredients are and see if you can get it another way. Hope this helps… it sure has worked well for me. Good luck.

Would this method work with spreads (used to cover furniture to protect from cat scratches) that have been treated with an enzymatic product (allowed to dry) and then laundered only to have them come out of the dryer with an odor that even humans can smell?
@UTAHtheN0bleBirthright- Жыл бұрын
Could you skip the ammonia part and go straight for the other r.v. treatment? I seriously don't know how my cats fuct up brand new carpeting so badly. I can see the big pee spots on the underside of carpet. I'm going to throw out the pad. But I've already had the carpet deep cleaned( supposedly with an enzymatic cleaner) I'm trying to sell the house, and realtors say the smell is still there. Cats went to the pound as I moved to a small apartment and couldn't keep them. I'm so angry that expensive carpet is ruined. I kept most of basement carpeting covered with a huge camping tarp most of the time, but somehow it still got peed on in spots. As much as I cried through the process of taking my two cats to a no kill shelter, it helps me get over my sadness when I think about how angry I am! Never again will I have an indoor cat!! . Maybe your method is worth a try.

If people would train their animals to go outside or use a litter box and keep it cleaned out this would not be a problem. My wife just bought a chair that reeks of the smell. In fact the whole house reeked. Now I have to figure out how to make this thing acceptable after getting the dog pee smell out of my Nephew's area rug that required several washings in the driveway with dawn dish soap, tide laundry soap, a brand new $500 carpet cleaner, a garden hose and a floor squeegee over 4 days. It finally came clean and they say it still smells clean like the carpet fresh I used last after it dried.

So does it take 2 weeks before the enzyme cleaner starts to work> I have Natures Miracle never used it yet...
@Goody2shzToo3 жыл бұрын
I think your chemistry may be a little flawed. Grease is also insoluble in water but regular Dawn dishwashing liquid cleans it just fine, and my understanding is it's just surfactants not enzymes. I've tried all kinds of oxy cleaners, vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, etc. Nothing worked. I finally found a product called Kids n Pets, an enzyme cleaner. It worked good but when I went back to HD to buy the gallon bottle, they didn't have it anymore. So I got Urine Destroyer carpet steaming product, which is a surfactant-based cleaner and it seems to work fine too especially if I run a hot water and vinegar rinse over it after it dries. I did a little research on the active ingredient and found it is derived from coconut which is of course oily, and the ingredient itself has degreasing properties. If you know more about this than my brief research has shown, I would love you to share.

What do u suggest I use on a sweater that had old cat urine. Anything that works best cost dosent matter
@StickFiguresMaster4 жыл бұрын
You need dawn dish soap (blue bottle) a microfiber cloth to use warm water with and you need to gently wipe with the microfiber cloth up and down the sweater without being quick, and you should have a separate tooth brush from what you already have and use a spoon with some baby powder and a cup of water, not a cup size of water but just an average cup and you want to want to make sure that the baby powder in the cup of water looks foggy or smoky, it’s not like it’d be dangerous if it’s smoky or foggy, it’s just that baby powder would be disrupted by a form of liquid like for example when you add hot chocolate mix to a cup of warm water, it’s just going to look sprinkly/foggy/airy/smoky, and the thing with the tooth brush is your going to dip it into the baby powder water like you would a brush into a can of paint, and your going if it’s like a hairy/fluffy sort of sweater where the material feels like a cat or dogs whiley hair then your going to need to brush it only a little bit quickly not madly quick though, and you don’t want to use pressure while rubbing the brush on it, you would just rub it on the sweater like soft wind touches your body. If it’s a not fluffy or hairy kind of fabric and is like a Steve Jobs turtleneck then your going apply a little sensitivity to the sweater with the brushing. You don’t want to use the baby powder on the sweater and then add water to the baby powder cause the baby powder could already mess up the color on the fabric like you would be using a nail file with your finger nails, you’ll make the color look sanded and that’s not going to be a recoverable thing.
