Here is an update on how to get rid of dandruff/dry scalp on my natural hair.
If you're caught up on my videos you know that I recently went to a Trichologist and got diagnosed with mild seborrheic dermatitis which essentially is a type of dandruff.
I go through my new wash day routine in this video and what I do to remedy this.

I have natural hair and scalp SD as well. I have to incorporate anti-dandruff every wash day but always follow up with a sulfate free moisturizing shampoo. FYI: dandruff shampoo that contains salicylic acid will exfoliate the scalp.

I'm really hoping I won't have to use the anti dandruff shampoo every wash day eventually so will try and look for other options as well I like the idea of the salicylic acid to exfoliate the scalp 👌🏾

Iv actually been following this real close , we learn something new everyday. Never thought I’d see you using a shampoo with sulfates 😂🏃🏿‍♀️

Yes it work by closing up scaple stops hair from growing..too

I use pre - poo on my ends (not my scalp) and then use gentle sulfate from the trichologists.

@@ChumaSoko yeah just keep all products except prescribed by the trichologists/GPs/Dermatologists away from your scalp. I don't even apply conditioner to my scalp unless it's from the trichologists even though the instructions say to!

There is only one trichologist where I am from and they are located about 2 hours away. During the Pandemic i am a bit weary about appointments and such. Is there anything over the counter that your Trich has prescribed?

@@lukki7ster nothing over the counter for me. Some trichologists are doing online consultations and shipping products to people. So it's worth finding one that is doing that.

Hi Chuma, thanks so much for this informative video! I just saw you did another video on dry/flaky scalp using hot oil treatment - do you still do this as well as this wash and conditioning routine? Also would you say Afrocenchix shampoo and conditioners work just as well as the creme of nature ones? (I'm trying to support black owned businesses where I can!). I'm basically suffering from dry scalp and my scalp is tender to the touch so I'm trying to buy the right products to treat it! Thank you so much in advance 👩🏾‍🏫

Hey Akili, you're more than welcome, thanks so much for watching. Now that I am using the anti dandruff shampoo, I'm not doing the hot oil treatments as often I now do them once or twice a month. I'd say the afrocenchix products are safer as they don't contain a lot of chemical based ingredients and if your scalp is tender to touch, this would be the better option for you, I like the creme of nature ones because of how my hair feels after using it and the flexibility it gives my hair after a wash, my curls stay elongated and helps with detangling. If you find that your scalp doesn't improve over time please see a professional it honestly helps so much. 🤗

Do you put the last product the leave in conditioner on your scalp?

I don't put product on my scalp unless it's an oil, I just put the leave in conditioner on my hair, there may be some product that ends up on the scalp but it's not intentional.
