Hi you are wonderful. My daughter is 11 and saw Lolita dress she wanted me to recreate in blue/white. I usually dress in Victorian or steam punk style (not Lolita) I am holding a tea party soon and my daughter preferred Lolita style so I am sewing her first Lolita dress. I have been watching a lot of videos to do with Lolita and my daughter also is saying what she wants. I hope to do the style justice as its a fabulous way of expressing oneself. Bless u love your video it has helped.

dαddчdσngσ you can slowly incorporate Lolita-esque pieces into your wardrobe when your parents take you shopping! As long as you don't mention the style's name (because for some reason the movie had to ruin the word, even though it has nothing to do with it) they'll just think you're buying cute/vintage things! Just do it a little bit at a time and don't try to go all out all at once :)

I live in the bible belt, so there's no community near me considering most people here believe that all of its risque. I've never seen a Lolita here, however I'm extremely interested in the fashion, and always have been. I'm getting into sewing, and I have been making small scale plushie, and plan to make things such as doll dresses as a beginner thing before I start on bigger scale things. I'm stuck on deciding whether I want to go with Gothic or not, considering where I live, I'm worried they may believe I'm some form of a Satanist, and yeesh- I'm planning on moving once I attain the money, and hopefully somewhere out of this tiny town ^^"

Today someone at the store made a remark saying "Is that your natural hair color?" My hair is currently green. I ignored them; that's always the best option. But alas they didn't like that and said "Well why does she do it unless she wants attention?" Point is- you're never goes to please everyone around you. From your family to the asshole stranger. So it's best to just be yourself and do what makes YOU happy. Cuz that is what matters most.

Zhang Yixings Wife Age is no big deal :D Don't worry about that. There are no physical stores for lolita fashion except a few for the really big and expesive brands. I'd recommend checking out lacemarket (dot) us. It's where lolitas resale their items; sometimes for cheap. Check out some Tao Bao brands; they're usually really cute and a lot cheaper because they're smaller brands. You can also look at Bodyline (they have an English site too). Some of their items are pretty cute. In regards to telling your parents; if you live in the US and you same 'lolita' they'll prolly assume it has to do something with the book which is about a promiscuous little girl and an older guy. Otherwise I'd tell them that you're interested in this fashion style you found out about that's really cute and girly and based on old French style. I explained to my family that i'll be looking like a doll from now on haha. Explain that before you say 'lolita' and if they have any question about the term; Deerstalker Pictures 2 has a video all about why it's called lolita. Hope this helps!

Hi my name is Harmony I am 21 years old and I have need wanting to get into Lolita fashion for a year. The problem is every time I try to I am either told it's not Lolita or it's not name brand so it can't be Lolita. I try my hardest in Cosplay and now I want to kind of combine every thing I love into one so I want to do Lolita. I am an otaku cosplay and I do the Renaissance fairs. I only have one week left in Vegas and I work at the out door Swatmeet on the weekends. I think Lolita will give me the Renaissance feel like I love but the comfort of me being myself with out having to dress up as a character to do so. You think there is any way you can help me with trying this new experience.
@isakigoboom9 жыл бұрын
Well first you have to understand that lolita and cosplay cannot be combined. They're two different things and should never be called the other :) I have a lot of other lolita vids that may help, but if you pick out a dress on ebay- chances are it's not lolita. If it looks cheap or crappy- not lolita. Lolita dresses are made with attention to detail and with better quality fabrics/lace/etc. You don't have to have 'brand' to be lolita, but to train your eye about what's 'ita' and what's actually lolita- I'd recommend looking at a lot of brand pieces and see what the differences are between them and a 'lolita costume cosplay' dress looks like. Hope this helps. Also- please don't ever share where you work publicly! For your safety :)

I like the boots but the platforms and heels just seem a little over the top to me, I much prefer little, thin flats and boots

Me and you are VERY similar!! I've always been interested in victorian everything and ALWAYS have been a lover of lace and things before I even knew what lolita was! And the theme I have in mind for my future house would be quite girly too x'D Sort of like a doll house, but NOT BARBIE. Just a really elegant feel to it. It's my DREAM to have a cute little tea set!! Other than the other stuff I'd wear, light, soft, pastel & neutral color lolita like I think Classic Lolita, the occasional Hime Lolita, and sub-genre aristocratic lolita REALLY fit me as a person. :)

When I first got into the fashion I didn't know anyone who was also into it. I wore and still wear it just for myself. I've made new friends thru it and now one of my best friends is also a lolita.

I have a question for you. I want to try wearing Lolita once, to see if I actually want to try it out and I don't want to spend tons of money on it if I turn out to not like it. I know you said to stay away from things that say cosplay, but there is a cosplay store near me, that also sells Lolita clothes for a decent price that I can afford. Would buying a Lolita dress from there be bad?
@isakigoboom9 жыл бұрын
+FashionMonster AMVs In all honesty; I don't know why you'd need to buy something to wear out once to see if it's you. People either like the style or they don't. If the shop has a dressing room; then maybe just try something on if you need to see what flatters you. Cosplay dresses are NOT lolita fashion in any way. I doubt they sell something of good quality that would do the fashion justice. If you're not sure who you are yet then I'd recommend keep looking at photos of various styles to see what fits you best.

I have been trying to get an answer to my question in some lolita channels about what is lolita exactly but I haven't gotten any responses. Maybe you could help me. So far, I haven been very intrigued by the lolita fashion especially with jumper skirts which look more like dresses to me. I have fallen in love with the dresses because it fits the poofiness and decorative glam I like. However, I am slightly discouraged by the emphases on modesty and conservatism, which is naturally part of the victorian era. Basically, if i modify the dress to make it less modest like taking away the blouses in jumper skirts and tights, would I still be a Lolita? I already purchased my first jumper skirt on bodyline which resembles a classic lolita style. I don't want to be called an "ita" by a community I would like to associate myself with- so please help! Thank you!
@isakigoboom9 жыл бұрын
+TheFoxfeather In short the answer is no. If you wear a jsk (jumper skirt) without a blouse underneath or cardigan over top then it's lolita done wrong. Lolita = modesty which is why you'll never see someone who takes the fashion seriously doing that. Even in warm weather. Bodyline can be a good site for beginner lolitas, but is not very good quality and can have some tacky prints. If you like lolita pieces, but don't want to follow the guidelines, then it's not considered lolita fashion but instead 'lolita influenced'. Hope this answers your question. I have a lolita playlist if you want to hear more; I cover a lot of topics.
@TheFoxfeather9 жыл бұрын
+Isaki Tahashi Thank you! So then based on your answer, I don't think I will be a Lolita BUT I think I can take in some Lolita stuff into my wardrobe. The risqué lolita did interest me and it may fit into the realm of my tastes but I doubt it will be less modest than what I would prefer - it can float around as possibility. I will follow your channel regardless of not being a lolita 😅😂 I find you quite informative of this subculture.

What I seem to see is practically anything Lolita can be labeled as cosplay. I'm working on making a dress but until then I'm saving up to buy a Lolita dress. I'm scared to buy one though because as soon as I find a dress I like, I see it pop up somewhere else labeled as " cosplay Lolita ". I really looked into what's ita and what's Lolita but I'm scared that if I buy the dress I really have my eye set on, it's gonna look too anime-ish and be more like a cosplay.
@isakigoboom7 жыл бұрын
Anything that says cosplay you'll want to stay far away from. Learn some brand names- the big ones and small ones to help you pick out one that isn't crappy. I'll be doing a video on this topic soon!
@captainjacksparrow15217 жыл бұрын
+Isaki Tahashi That's the thing though. I'll be on a Lolita site and the dress will say that it's a normal Lolita OP or JSK but then I'll be browsing amazon or eBay for second hand nerd stuff and I'll see a used version of the dress labeled as cosplay. I know I shouldn't really trust eBay and amazon when it comes to identifying Lolita but it's a bit nerve wracking. XD The dress I'm looking to buy is a simple navy blue OP with white sleeves, frilly cuffs, a frilly white collar, navy blue buttons and a darker navy blue bow at the collar. The skirt cut looks like an A line but the angle makes it a little hard to tell so it might actually work for a bell shape. I'm gonna leave it up to you or someone else as to whether this doesn't sound like Lolita. XD The site I'm using is called " My Lolita Dress ". It was the first site that popped up when I searched for lolita clothes.
@isakigoboom7 жыл бұрын
My Lolita Dress is a bit of an iffy site. Most seasoned lolitas tend to stay away from there. Check out Devil Inspired or Lacemarket (second hand) for help picking out your first dress.

I would love to dress a bit more lolita-like but I am a XXL woman and gained like 25kg in 4 years and don‘t feel very comfortable about myself so I avoid colorful and puffy stuff in my normal style. I really want to try it though and maybe gain confidence from it. Because the last times I lost weight over the years I still wore loose clothes and felt like I didn’t loose a pound. I think dressing as cute as I want to might help me :)

+Isaki Tahashi I know right??? I love the style of the goth/victorian/kawaii mix but not only that, the things you learn people really used to wear like corsets etc. which I also love but not sure if its counted lolita. People seem to think lolita is girls dressing as loose animes but when done correctly and conservatively, it makes sense and is appropriate

I've been wanting to try out different 'worlds' of fashion, such as steampunk and lolita, recently, but I'm having some issues. 1) I have little to no money. 2) I almost never see anyone wearing anything even remotely close to lolita where I live, so I'm not sure how to find my 'local group'. I also have trust issues, so meeting people online is a no-no. 3) I'm not very confident, so talking to people I happen see in lolita scares the daylights out of me. T_T

Hey ! I am 15 years old and I live in Morocco. I really admire and love Lolita fashion but the problem is I've never ever seen a person dressing as a Lolita in my country or even Lolita items in stores. We don't express ourselves much in fashion in my country. I really want to dress as a Lolita because I feel like this is who I am but I just can't find Lolita clothes and I'm afraid of the strange looks people will give me. I haven't told anyone yet not even my parents but I'm planning to stand out as a Lolita this September. Sorry if I made any mistakes English is not my first language :)
@isakigoboom9 жыл бұрын
Oumaima Elhamidi Your English is very good so no worries. :) There is a well know lolita who wears a hijab and abides by her practices while in the fashion. I don't know if that helps if you follow the same guidelines. I do know there are lolitas all around the world. What style do you like? If you want something a little more plan and easier to accept then maybe go with classic lolita. Or slowly add in frilly elements to your everyday dress so your family can get accustomed to it step by step. Hope this helps!
