Another great video Ian. We have our caravan stored in Scarborough and have it pitched for us when we go there. Fortunately, we have mains electric so don’t need fancy gear for charging the Mini 2. I do have a 26800mAh power pack but use it for our phones when out and about. It doesn’t have a USB-C PD connection so I need to make sure that the drone batteries are charged back at the van before venturing out. We’d love to see your footage in both Malta and Wales when you get round to it. Keep up the good work.

I have some 30W chargers but most have one usb-c and one usb-a port and will not fast charge both the batteries and the controller at one time, I have to charge one at a time or use tow bricks. I got the Anker 735 Charger (Nano II 65W). It has two usb-c ports and one usb-a and will fast charge the batteries in the hub and the controller at the same time if I use the two usb-c ports with two usb-c to usb-c cables (it won't fast charge these devices off the usb-a port). It's pricey, about $60 US plus tax but it's easier than using 2 chargers.

I'm completely off grid.... With all of my tech gear...😆 Is the DJI supplied cable actually PD? I've read that a PD specific cable will give you full benefit of a PD charger... I charge the RC Controller using my phone charger... Plugging it into my PD charger just makes it seem like it's charging in over drive the way the lights flash...I just feel more comfortable with a slower charge on the controller.... I'm in no hurry, anyways...
@IaninLondon2 жыл бұрын
Fast lights = fast charging.... :) I think DJI know how to look after their batteries, so I'm pretty relaxed about using the fast charge on them....

You can use any charging cable that ends in USB-C for the drone. Some are older USB at the other end; some are USB-C both ends. The Anker charger needs this type of cable: amzn.to/3KFTlqZ

Just a note the faster you charge the batteries the harder it stresses them reducing their life. You should store the batteries at 60% and I use an 18w charger so it doesn't take that long to go from 60% to 100%. The slower the charging the better it is for the battery.
@TonesDroneVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Very true. I learnt that while working for Tandy Electronics years ago. I do a days flying and just charge it in the evening with my old phone charger
@IaninLondon2 жыл бұрын
Fair point, but is charging in 65 mins fast charging? Genuinely unsure. The official DJI 30w charger gets it charged in 65 mins..... I'll try with the 20w charger I have...
@philip_james2 жыл бұрын
@@IaninLondon I've just done a test with my 18w charger. It took 35 minutes to go from 64% to 100% using the charging hub. I think it's much kinder to the battery chemistry charging at a lower wattage. Fast changing cells has always reduced their life and yes I believe 65 minutes is fast changing.

Slow and steady when charging Li batteries. It's the same when charging EV's . Don't use the rapid chargers all the time as it will deplete the life of the battery faster. Of course fast charging occasionally is fine.

Ian, is the Omnicharge you have the 20+ or the 20c+? It seems you have enabled them to sell out of the 20+ as of this morning. I am also interested in the PD charging profile it provides as a user on their site has commented that the 20+ doesn't support PD3 and as such won't charge a samsung phone using super fast charging. I think for £250+ you should be able to charge as fast as your kit can allow. Cheers man.
