Depends if you're willing to wait around 30 seconds to find a trade per Pokemon. I probably spent around 10 minutes trading away one box of mimikyus I had. If you have boxes upon boxes of toxels you might want to just release them; if you have the time however, you might as well trade and help someone out ;).

I always surprise-trade my breedjects away. I release everything with 4IVs or less and only trade the ones with 5IVs. Thankfully plenty of people do the same so I have a bunch of 5IV foreign males to use for breeding. I wouldn't say surprise trade blows, and thankfully the amount of Dreepy you get from it has also finally gone down xD

What I do when I shiny hunt, is I release all the Pokémon in my party (Except my flame body Pokémon) before moving on to the next set of eggs. It keeps it from becoming disorganized :)

I have 16 boxes of (probably) unique trades which according to this guide should give me a 1/63 chance of a master ball. I'm at the point where I don't really see 4th tier/fail tier prizes any more. I got plenty of PP Maxes, a handful of Rare Candies. Still waiting on that master ball! Are we sure the odds are out of 30,240 and not 99,999?

King-X I did the math and if you have 16 boxes then that is 480 different ids. He made a mistake so it’s actually 100000 meaning 100000 divided by 480 which is 208. So your chances are 1/208 for a masterball

Yeah, that's my maths out of 99,999 and it goes with my experience. I just wondered if he knows something I don't when he said the odds are out of 30,240 not 99,999. As it turns out, it was an issue of whether the lottery can have duplicate numbers (which he's now conceded it can) so the best possible chance (32 boxes) would give you 1/104 but as that's not viable let's make it out of 30 boxes which would be 1/111. In conclusion the method is sound but it's best to have 20+ boxes for best results. 24 boxes (3 rows) would give 1/138 chance. (Finally got a master ball! I'll probably go for some more boxes.)

@Michael Chung Two days ago, I mentioned this Idea to some friends (after reading about it via Discord). I also mentioned the possibility of unfortunate pairings. However, I don' t think that it would be "that" bad. I mean, maybe you receive a Pokemon you be searching for, maybe some breeding- leftovers which might help you with breedingfor a competitive Pokemon or a Shiny. So it might not be our main goal, but I don' t see that much of a difference between making a kid/new player happy and making another ""donator" happy since making other people happy is great anyway. :-) And if you should receive something you don' t want, you can still trade it with another person (or release it if you consider that it is not worth trading).

protip: if you constantly surprise trade, you will most likely run to those .com trainers that will give you a hacked shiny pokemon. The pokemon, you release them. But most of them holds a masterball for some reason and you can actually just put that in your bag than release the hacked pokemon. That how I have a few masterballs
