Hi Chris, great vid. I have recently mentored a couple of new operators and it is a pleasure to see them growing there skills and confidence. often all they needed was a little guidance and a bit of time to develop there skills base. I would often get then to talk through what they wanted to do. Then depending on task get them to do task or if more complex I would show them the way I would do it and then get them to have a go. Keep up with the vids as they are really useful.

Great stuff 👍🏻 im looking at getting my operater licence next year 🤞🏻. I am a HGV class 1 driver at the moment but looking to combine both licenses 👍🏻 i understand everything you just demonstrated 👍🏻 but one question i have at the moment is if you are already sat in the machine running ect and you turn 350 more than a dozen times as your loading ect. Does the machine have a marking or a clue to what way the drive is without or before you push the levers or pedals ?
@dottstraining2 ай бұрын
@@leeberry1363 hello Lee. Some machines are fitted with a rated capacity indicator ( RCI ) that will indicate what degrees you are at, generally if you are at 180 degrees you will be over the drive motors or if not fitted you can see the insides of the track from the cab and can make out what end you are over. Familiarise yourself on what each end looks like in order to identify. I might do a video on it to explain.

@@dottstraining hello and thank you for your reply 👍🏻👍🏻. It was something I was thinking about because are you are rotating her and there on sites ect I just thought it would be confusing until you push the levers or peddles. I've seen some operators just push the peddle and realised there started the wrong way. So like I asked I was wondering about markings or something visual to the operator. And yeah if you can pop it in with one of your vlogs too that would be great thank you 👍🏻 just a little bit of detail on what to look at or if it have a rating marker? That's would be a great 👍🏻👍🏻

This is why you never trust a doctor. LOL >@1:30>>he thinks the final drive is like a tire and if its not on the ground you will loose traction. Hes handing out some pro level advise. >>>>>Is this guy the teacher???? Mommy I'm scared :( jk>> 98% good advise the other 2% will have me pondering the size of the universe and gravity and physics for many years to come.... P>S 10000+ hours have never used the seat belt EVERRRR!!!i take that back the skid steer seat belt is a must lol!!!! And i build roads in the mountains of Alaska I rather jump than stay strapped in and ride 1000 feet down a cliff. Question you need a license to operate heavy equipment now? Hmm Good thing i can't get pulled over on an excavator in the middle of no place . LOL I have run loaders, dozers, semi trucks with super over loaded trailers, excavators, dump trucks never got 1 card/ license. All off pavement on gold mines. I get cdl holding drivers on the job and i have to reteach them frickin brake pumpers how to drive. Great i can build the road but now i need a card to drive on it? safety first

@@bearbait2221 again, thanks for your professional input and thanks for taking the time to watch and study the video. The track motors remaining on the ground does actually provide better traction as opposed to lifting them in the air. It also helps with regards to being able to still have control with your pedals as this is the natural way of operating. Again, as per manufacturer’s recommendations carrying out the majority of the work over the idlers has a significant help toward wear and stress by taking it away from the motors. Thanks for watching, don’t forget to like and subscribe!!! 😉

@@jasonwarren3350 yes it’s doable Jason but best practice is over your idlers.

I was also confused on his final drive logic? I will never get up this hill if the finals are in the air because only the part of the track will spin is in the air :0 like a tire lol.

If the drive motor is in the air it will still drive the machine back or forward
@dottstraining2 ай бұрын
@@sheikhentertainment5450 correct! However, think about it logically, where does the power come from? Take the power away from the ground and it becomes drag instead of propelled!
