Thanks Paul, great content and very informative. Re the weed killing, I’m going to get myself onto a PA1/6 course, just wondering if you had a recommended course supplier? I’m also looking at doing the Pure Seal module one (not the August one). I’m currently a cleaning enthusiast that’s looking to diversify a bit. Many thanks.
@jetreadyuk Жыл бұрын
The Pureseal courses are excellent, not least for the opportunity of rubbing shoulders with other people in the same business. As for PA1/PA6 there are several providers and you should probably just choose one that is local or otherwise convenient for you.

Great video! I see you apply the weed killer and let it sit for two weeks. Then you come back and pressure wash the dead weeds away. Is there any risk that the runoff from the pressure washing will kill grass or other nearby plants?
@jetreadyukАй бұрын
No danger at all. After two weeks any weed killer will have been fully absorbed by the weeds.

I like how you explain everything and you don’t waffle! Very succinct! I’m curious, do you only do on the ground stuff? Ever do a roof? I haven’t seen all your videos yet, I guess I’ll probably find out before you read my comment… 😂 I can’t believe the amount of much that was left over on the third driveway! Wow!

For the first couple of years I only did ground work and decking restoration. More recently I invested in the equipment for roof cleaning and have been working on one for the last couple of days. Still finding my way with roof work. It's very physical and strenuous.

Just started to watch you Paul, one thing i would suggest is a bigger engine, no wonder you have supports all over, using the turbo all day at your age, (i am similar age😂) 30lpm is a game changer, so much faster, a good thing about it is so much less mess using fsc on blocks, i started with 21lpm.

You're too far away for us, we are in Birmingham. But had someone come out and pressure wash the drive, since then been getting weeds all over the place. They put sand down, another operator said they should not have put sand down it blocks drainage apparently and should have used granite, showed me the bricks that have groves in them around edges and said they would not sand them?? if you put sand down yourself it just sinks down the cracks completely. They ended up just jet washing it as they said they did not have any granite. Since then I have just presure washed it myself with karcher but weeds just keep coming back. I'm getting on abit now and need someone local who knows what they are doing to get rid of these weeds once and for all. I Ialso have these pesky weeds growing in between the gravel at sides of block pathing on the driveway, that some company said would not happen when they put the gravel down as they put a membrane down first, but that has not stopped them growning though. What can I use to get rid of them, I cannot bend down anymore to pick them out and they have been left to grow. thinking I can just about manage to spray some weed killer over them all, but if you don't pull them out properly they just grown back anyway seems a constant battle.
@jetreadyuk3 ай бұрын
It sounds like you might have semi-permeable block paving. If so, then yes, it should be filled with grit rather than sand. As for weeds, these can happen anywhere. Perhaps best to get them treated in the spring as it's too late in the season for weed killers to be effective.

Great to watch and you do a fantastic job. Can i ask what made you go in to this line of work. Im only asking as i have recently been made redundant and looking at starting up my own business doing this exact job (not in your area 😊) Have booked a course on learning how to etc. Albeit scary starting up my own business your Video's do inspire me to have a go on my own. The only thing I've got to get right is the correct pricing of jobs. Do i charge by the square metre of the job and if so what to charge is stimping me. Don't want to overcharge but also not to undercharge. I know it also differs if resanding and if customer wants it resealed as well. Anyway thanks for the Video's as they have motivated me to try my own business. Any tips you may have have greatly appreciated.
@jetreadyuk4 ай бұрын
Keep it simple to start with doing driveways and patios. Charge by the metre and have a minimum charge. There's a great ebook called the The Jet Wash Training Manual by Mike Packwood of ValeJetClean. Look him up on Facebook

Why not leave the product on the drive and just sand it 2 weeks later? Also can you specify the product please?
@jetreadyuk2 ай бұрын
You don't say which product
@davetozer59824 ай бұрын
Also what size water tank do you use. Can you plug the hose directly in to your jetwash hence no need for a tank. Are the customer's happy for you to use their water considering some have water meters. Sorry for all the questions but just trying to grab some knowledge of experienced people like yourself
@jetreadyuk4 ай бұрын
I have a 500L tank but lots of people manage with something half this size. A Wheely bin is a popular option. I've never had an issue using customer's water. If asked I would just say that my quote assumes this.

No. I can carry 500L of water in my van but a decent pressure will use this amount in less than 15 minutes. If the customer cannot supply water for any reason then significant extra charges will apply to cover the cost of hiring a standpipe.
