Your channel's one of my fav youtube channels. There's not many channels about specific careers and the fact that there's an amazing Biomedical Science channel is a blessing for me and others with the same passion x

very good video. I really feel like there isn't enough support out there for the people who graduate health science courses, thank you for providing your insight and some important points, I now have a better way of looking at my issue and own insecurities, I'm sure I will be able to find something in my area soon

I was blessed with the opportunity to do an internship with USC called the BRAIN initiative ( biomedical research apprenticeship internship) . A collaboration with the beacon house of San Pedro and USC. I gained hands on experience at Norris comprehensive cancer center of USC for 1 year then was hired on by one of my lab rotation professors that gave me a chance and took me under her wing. I had no experience in a lab other than High school and with very little college. I am forever greatful and will now be able to pursue my dream of getting my degree from USC and further my career in the biomedical sciences

Some apt advice there. I have had a lot of problems getting a placement. In my case, I kept getting the "there is no insurance for doing placements in a lab" I did get a job offer in a biological company, but then it was revoked as there was no funding available! Got no answers from them whatsoever! I have had the experience needing experience for jobs and I have tried to work in a pharmacy as a technician, then to work up to a pharmacist for over a decade! I wanted to be a pharmacist since I was 16!! I can't get onto my uni's pharmacy degree due to my crap marks! I have just started an MSc which seems to address the learning difficulties I have. I didn't know I was mildly dyslexic, I knew I am dyspraxic. I went through from 2002 to today without the little bit of adjustment. I always thought (and still do) think I am thick for my appalling degree results. I got a 3rd from the OU! I still kick myself to this day. But maybe this path I am on now (I am in the pharmacy department at my uni), I am doing actual pharmacy modules s my elective. Finally, my mind blanks in exams could have been linked to dyslexia! *sigh* It could've been a lot better for me. (Maybe sometime in the future, I can do a pharmacology degree!) Or do research in the pharmacy department. I have an interest in herbalism and my uni studies herbal preperations.

Hi Atousa! Thank you for sharing your experience. I want to ask that can first-year biomed students get interns and placements, or they are usually for second-year students?

Hi! I have a question, I hope you can help me, I've been working at a research lab and my work has given me three publications but I'm a bachelor, so I have no idea if I can have a "research associate" title, if not, I was wondering what would be a good title to put on my resume, thanks ♡

You have to lie on your resume a bit and read 1 or 2 publications the professor did so you can answer their questions..

Sorry but are you seriously suggesting that an accomplished professor would dedicate an entire afternoon to a complete stranger with no lab experience!? HOW!??
@atousa57522 жыл бұрын
I know it may seem unlikely, but a lot of professors would be happy to help. They often ask one of their junior members to spend that time with you, if they are busy themselves. It is always worth asking, you never know. It has worked for me on a number of occasions. Good luck!
