How to get your Complaint / FIR registered in the Police Station ?

We have a grievance, we have been a victim of a crime etc and we go to the Police Station to make a complaint against the culprits. Sometimes, the reception at the Police Station is cold. Sometimes we are harassed with too many questions and sometimes we get a feeling that we are victimized again. Sometimes we are told that our complaint will not be entertained and FIR will not be registered leaving us with a state of helplessness.
In such situations, what are our rights ? Can the officer in the Police Station deny accepting our complaint or is it binding on him to accept our complaint and register FIR ? What if the officer in Police Station denies accepting our complaint ? What recourse do we have ?

Very noble initiative sir! Delhi Police is better responsive than in most other states but again if the complainant is not persuasive, things don’t move. Though the process is simple, but at ground level picture seems totally different. Police staff is so casual and ignore's people time, public are kept waiting for unnecessary reasons. Many of them don't even care about the seriousness of the issue. People are not coming with hope of getting help but many times they think FIR might help them in future if any thing wrong happens.

Good lecture on the crpc, but don't you feel that it is a waste of time and energy to pressurise some one who is not interested in registering your complaint. More over the sho or his subordinates go wild when you start guiding them about their duties and our rights further it ends up in a bitter experience when you approach the higher officers because even if the higher officers pressures to register a F I R it is followed by a B report.

Dear Mr Sunil Nayak. A false case was registered agained one of my friend and when my friend ask for fir report copy to him. Also he have the notice after 3 days and when the oponent made the false fir. My friend was also there but thr police office refused to listen to hom and took the complaint of the person who came after wards and game the complain. My friend waited to 3 hours to file the complain but police officer did not took his complain, moreover they took the complain of the opponent.
