The importance of projects is insane! I have been doing freelancing for about a year now and everytime I submit a proposal my clients 90% of the time thank me for showing projects. You'd be surprised how many freelancers don't have quality projects. (Also fast communication is key)

How did you start getting projects did you just make up stuff yourself? Im having a hard time convincing clients to buy my service! I havent even gotten one client yet
@onthegocode14432 жыл бұрын
@@Griot-Guild Yep its always hardest in the beginning. I started off making projects on my own and would look at freelancing sites like Upwork for project ideas. For instance I noticed a lot of people needing WordPress Development specifically with Booking Functionality. So I created a Project doing exactly that. When it comes to convincing a client your projects are a big part, but also your communication skills are a big part if not BIGGER. Try to reiterate their problem and how you as a developer can solve that. Also always be willing to get on a Call or Video chat! They want to know you're a real person. Freelancing is a roller coaster some times you get a bunch of contracts and other times you don't get work for a month, but the hardest part is getting on the roller coast in the first place. I can tell you this, if you bring value, have quality projects, and can communicate well there will always be someone willing to hire you. Keep yourself in the game! I wish you the best!

@@onthegocode1443 I have completed my BA in economics in 2019.and I hate going to office as it takes a lot time to travel and then work and come back the hole day ends and people are very poisonous in offices. So I have just started codeing. Do you think I can work from home for a long time? and are basic skills required for a programmer? It will be more than happy to recieve a reply from you. Thank you.

First to comment here. I'm doing your web stack course, but I want to focus on front-end for the rest of the year. I've already gotten 2 paid small projects booked, one I'm currently working on right now. I believe this is a very good step for me to up my chances of getting an entry level front-end dev. Thanks for all your advices

Definitely one of the things I struggle with right now is figuring out where I want to go with things. I know that if I don't commit to a choice I'll never get anywhere, but there is definitely anxiety that arises because I know what choice I make has huge consequences for the future. It seems you're saying once someone learns the fundamentals, they then will have the insight needed to make a choice as to how they want to direct their programming career. I suppose that depends on what you mean by "fundamentals," but to me, I have learned (for the most part), my fundamentals, and still don't know what path to take. I have taken 2 semesters of Java, and am learning C# right now. I still have to learn data structures, algorithms and similar concepts to really say I know the fundamentals, but it doesn't seem just learning that would help me any in being clarity to things or help me make a choice. As I commented on another video, I feel EXTREMELY lost, frustrated, and hopeless that I'll ever be able to reach my goal of becoming a software developer, let alone landing a job anywhere.

Hey Stef, Iv been doing web design for 8 years and frontend web dev for 7 years. I know the adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator and aftereffects) and html css and js comfortably well (I know no react, vue or angular however). Iv been applying to jobs left right and centre but I'm having no luck at all. Is there any outside perspective you could offer? Do you think me saying I can do web/UI design and front end dev makes me look like a jack of all trades master of none?

Hey Stefan, some KZbinrs recommends starting with frontend first, from their standpoint if started with backend we couldn't find any job as a junior developer cuz no one hire junior backend developers they say. What do u think on this regard ?
@StefanMischook2 жыл бұрын
It's a strange comment ...? You can't really do backend unless you know from frontend.

What do you think about academies that give you training (and pay you while training) and place you with a low salary with a contract for 2 years? I feel like sale my soul to de devil so I don't even apply, but may be a good option to start.

Without a degree, I don't think I have the luxury to choose any area of coding. Is web development the easiest and most realistic path for a non-degree holder? I mean that in terms of not only how hard it is to learn the skills on my own, but also how much a degree matters.
