Great video and I've had mine done after watching this. So thank you. Funny thing I noticed this morning was if you own a pair of UGG's and been wearing them for a bit the fur inside that's rubbes away is the exact print I had of my foot that I had done on my gait analysis and showing what I was told on the tredmil that my right foot overpronates more than my left and you can see this on the imprint of the inside of my slipper..

Pronation is controlled at the posterior 1/3 of the foot not the medial longitudinal arch alone, this is why we use Kirby skives, oblique skives, heel posts and heel cups … ASICS know all this, they need to better educate the client facing staff

This is the first time I’ve ever heard that a store will give you a free gait analysis with no obligation to buy. I’d love to give it a try though!

@@FordyRuns I can tell. I’m almost tempted, I’d love to find the ideal ASICS shoe for me. The Cumulus have put me off but I’d be happy if they said “the GlideRide is the ideal shoe for you” 😀

It is the ideal shoe I already know 🤣

So I over pronate and never had any issues running in my neutral shoes, maybe slight arch ache towards a very long distance run but nothing that stops me running. Not sure if I should be running in support shoes, just find them to be heavy

Awesome video! I can run/walk in the Nike Vomero 14 and Asics Cumullus 22 very well, but it took me a lot of time to find the right shoes for me. I ordered several shoes and sent them back till I finally found "my" shoes.

Really appreciated you cross-testing the Novablast. So many people love that shoe as a daily trainer but I think for a LOT of people it’s too unstable for that. Was great to see that objectively and on video. Cheers.

Awesome video. Very unique but so informative. Many of us have imbalances and suffer injuries. I am currently going through an injury experiencing similar symptoms to my lower left leg, which I believe is caused by over pronation as well. Would be great to see a follow up video explaining your experience and how you are dealing with or dealt with it once it has passed.

This was such an informative video and I learned a lot! So much good content but the item that really stuck out to me was her description of ankle support/stabilization via heel cushioning in the shoe upper. I've never thought about it but it makes sense! I have the Novablast 1 and Nimbus Lite 1 (retired due to mileage but still have) and see the Novablast does not have much cushioning in the upper around the heel/ankle but the Nimbus Lite 1 does.

Super interesting! I got the Kayano 28's to deal with my pronation issue. I absolutely love them. But I feel I run better in more neutral shoes! I wish Asics did the gait analysis where I live.

Yeah hopefully they can do this all over the country

Great video Fordy will definitely get a free gait analysis
Love the channel. @fordy did you get insoles or anything else to help the slight pronation? I've just bought the speed 3. Thanks

Excellent insight, she was very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, next time I’m in London (which could be some time) I’m definitely planning a visit, I wish Ascis would do a pronation iPad app for you to do it yourself.

Unfortunately there are some things that are incorrect with the advice you were given here Fordy. Overpronation is not always linked to foot arch, you can have normal arches and still overpronate, you can have flat feet and not overpronate. It can and often does come from a weakness elsewhere in the chain such as glute, knee, ankle etc. When you wear a max stability shoe such as the kayano you are just putting a plaster on the overpronation issue not fixing it. Your weakness wherever it's coming from will not improve because it's being masked by corrective shoes. Best advice for someone with your pronation levels and I am the same actually, run in neutral stable shoes where possible. So shoes that have inherent stability from having a wide platform and are firm. So nimbus lite, Endorphin shift, saucony ride are some examples. And work on the weakness in the chain with strength and mobility work 2-3 times a week. You may need to see a run specific chiropractor or osteo to analyse where the overpronation is coming from in your chain. With me my overpronation on one side Is from a weak glute medius and ankle so I target those in my strength routine. Hope that helps sorry for the waffle

I agree 100%. But I have zero idea where to find in Romania someone that can link my running form to muscle weakness.

Shouldn’t they be recording the running from all angles rather than just behind?

Good video, need to do this when next in London. How long did it take you to fully get over the leg injury? I had a similar injury in the same place at a similar time! And only just in the last month been able to properly get back to regular training without any pain or pain afterwards. Which has ruined my marathon training 😆

As far as I understand, (over)pronation is not exactly a 100% verdict for stability shoe. Our body has its way of adapting to forces and pronation is one of it. I have the funny feeling it is all about the way the muscles work for each individual person. Eg you can overpronate and do fine in a neutral shoe. Or be a neutral pronator and still need a stability shoe due to other weak muscles.
@JG-fg1ye Жыл бұрын
It’s normal to pronate ….. and video analysis alone has severe limitations, never mind heel bisection lines. Simply if you do not identify the zones of optimal tissue stress all of this is a waste of time

Barefoot running or in minimalist shoes is the best way to run and avoid injuries
