If you haven't gotten your stimulus by now, it's now time to claim these on your tax return. Make sure you claim the total amounts you are due. There will be questions asking you about what you received and it will calculate for you what you should have received.
Edit: Jan 15th, 2021
Make sure you wait until at least January 31st before you file in case the check comes in the mail!
1/23/2021 Update: Wait until Jan 31 before filing! It could still be in the mail! The IRS won't process your return until Feb 12th so this might save you from having to do a return!

You can efile. Ignore wha ti said about mail but yes if you mail, you would mail to the address they provide while will be the closest irs processing center near you.

Just found out from an update on the irs website....i never got the first stimulus because it was sent to the wrong bank account. Found out that i was supposed to do a payment trace. Guess that is long gone. It went to an old H&R account that i dont use. Letter was sent to my old address. Never got that either. I dont know what to do.

You can only claim 1800 on the first 2 stimulus. The 3rd stimulus is not part of 2020 tax return.

In normal circumstances, he’s right. But to claim the stimulus, you have to file a return to get it. Try it and see but officially it’s too late!

This is for the first 2 stimulus. The 3rd one is coming soon once it passes congress/president and will come end of March/april 2021. You're all set for that if you sent in your tax return as they will use that info to give you $1400 per eligible person. **Virtual Hugs**

To help allow people who really don’t understand much about taxes and how to file them correctly as far as rebate recovery go’s. My question to you is, I filled out an rebate recovery form on line a little earlier than when allowed in the month of February of year 21. But I was only going for my missing child tax credit but then I went back and also added my 2017 tax return information because I thought I had to. I now see I should have never done it. Not to mention I receive SSI what should I do???

no problem. thanks for watching. Let me understand this... You adjusted your 2017 taxes? That was so long ago haha. You shouldn't have had to touch that 2017 return. You might have to do an amended return again to fix what you changed (I assume you adjusted it with an amended return). the only return you needed to file was your 2020 tax return for the missing child and it was available to do in February 2021.

Yeah but you don’t really need to since she doesn’t owe any taxes. The only reason I say to do it is because fraud is rampant and a blank tax return is a red flag. If you got the info, enter it so it looks more like a real person. Good luck Tom!

If you follow the video, there’s a view 1040 link for printing it. It will be the same as filling it out by hand. I suggest that route than manually writing it but really just line 30 is where you will put the recovery rebate credit stimulus amount.

I would not file it right now if you are working still. File it all together when you file your income taxes with the income you made at your job. You'll have to wait a bit to get your stimulus! Jan 31!

It will be a pretty much straight forward, single, zero income, non filer. Person is on SSI and I believe only received the $600 payment once - nothing else. To play it safe, I plan on answering "Yes" to the 2nd stimulus payment of $600 but the person is not sure about the 1st payment, if it applies to them? They got a notice in Sept. 2021 from the SSA that they may be eligible for an "EIP & Other Refundable Tax Credits for Supplemental Security Income Recipients" so I'm (we) are thinking it's the 3rd one of $1800? Or am I wrong and the 3rd EIP is for 2021 tax return? And I should just file as you did on this tutorial and the IRS will figure out any missing amounts owed? Yes just file a return. I believe the irs extended it for this reason. The worse that can happen is the return gets rejected. You should be eligible so give it a try

I would because most likely that employer took taxes out of your paycheck to give to the IRS and this is your chance to get that back since you won’t owe any taxes if you made less than 12400. You’ll also get the stimulus on top of that refund.

You shouldn’t have to do anything right now. We can only hope that the irs will pull the latest data available (your 2020 return) and send you a check for $1400. Otherwise we’ll have this same conversation next year on 2021 taxes!!

I'm a non-filer. Social Security changed my address, so it's different than the IRS. Apt # first for SS and then st number 2nd. Mailing in documentation with a 1040 will visibly show the difference. Its still the same, either way. SS screwed me up! I rcvd my 1099 to prove it.

Yes if no one claimed you on 2020 and you haven’t received any stimulus. You would be eligible for the 3rd after doing this also.

I'm helping my mom file her own 2020 taxes (she usually gets claimed on my sister's taxes) and did not receive any stimulus. If she pays her property taxes on her paid place do I state that amount somewhere?

The property taxes counts as an "itemized deduction". However, it's capped at $10,000 due to president trumps tax plan. So by itself, it's probably not enough to make it over the $12400 she'll need. The "Standard deduction" is $12,400 and everyon'e gets this regardless. Your sister will lose out on a dependent ($500 for your mom) but your mom will get a lot more stimulus if she files her own taxes for 2020. So it's better this way for her to file for the stimulus and your sister not claim her as a dependent. It's one of the issues of the stimulus package that never really got addressed but this is the way for your mom to claim the stimulus ($1200 + $600). She can give your sister $500 if she feels bad for her losing out on the dependent.

That 401k income is taxable if it’s a lot so you’ll want to include that info on your tax return when you claim the recovery rebate. And yes you can qualify for the recovery stimulus.

Hello mate, I've been wondering why I haven't got my stimulus check yet when I got my last one based on my 2018 tax return. I didnt work in 2019 and had no w2's but just today I remembered that I did get some unemployment for part of that year. Do you think the irs is waiting for me to file just my 1099g for 2019 or do you think I would still get a stimulus check? If I do have to file just the 1099g for 2019 then how do i go about filing that and will it now take weeks to do it and get my stimulus check? I got my first stimulus check into direct deposit last time no problems but now I'm thinking that's why I haven't got the 2nd check yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou mate.

The reason you didn’t get it is because the 2nd stimulus used 2019 info to send checks out. It’s too late now. Skip 2019 tax return. You probably didn’t get enough unemployment to need to file. File a 2020 return with 0 income or whatever income you made in 2020 and claim the rebate credit on that return. You’ll get $600 for the 2nd stimulus

You can file with no income but you will have to mail in your tax form. You can also go to h and r block to do same but you will pay some $

Mailing delays maybe. I’d wait until the irs processing date before submitting return. If it’s not there by feb 12, just claim it on tax return. Just don’t cash or use the atm card if it comes lol

I if you owe the IRS they are keeping the stimulus check even if you filed the recovery rebate and you owe they are keeping it and putting it towards what you owe..they took mine it also shows you on your tax transcript.

Yes if you didn’t pay enough taxes it will go towards paying those taxes. If you owe back taxes, they will not stop the stimulus from coming

Correct. Just answer no at those questions and the software will calculate the amount for you based on your info you put in

What if you claimed for 2018 and not 2019 and it went by your 2018 tax info for dependents and gave you the amount for the dependents you claimed that year but not carrying them for 2020 can you still get the (RRC) credits because on the first stimulus they went by my 2018 dependents but on the second stimulus it didn’t pay me for dependents and only the $600. Can I still get the (RRC) credits?

Yes you can. See my example where stimulus 2 was incorrect. Everythjng is based on 2020 status so if you claim your kids in 2020, and enter the amount you received so far, it will correctly calculate what they owe you. In this case, 2nd stimulus.

Hi. I was claimed as a dependent in 2018. I started working mid 2019 (my income was under the threshold limit) and I did not file my 2019 Tax Return early enough to be qualified for the 1st round of stimulus check ($1200) so I missed it. But I was able to receive my 2nd round of stimulus check ($600). For 2020, my income limit is passed the threshold to receive any payment. Am I still able to claim my $1200 that I missed?

Unfortunately you will not qualify. If you don’t have a company 401k or have an hsa, you may be able to contribute to a retirement account to get under the income limit and qualify that way.
