He has a clean record and has always wanted to go OTR so maybe this is the push he needed 🤷♀️ anyway thanks again for your video. I truly love when I find channels like this! Completely under-rated, and chock-full of the details I'm looking for! Side note: It's amazing the amount of knowledge people are willing to share, basically for free. Colleges, and Technical institutes charge an arm and a leg for a crappy indoctrination...er "education", and I'm pretty sure there isn't a course on how to become the owner/op of a semi! Your channel will definitely be a tool I use in the coming weeks, thanks for the content.

I just went and got a rig in feb2021 and applied for my m.c#,d.o.t#,and ca# and am waiting for the last permit (d.o.t#) to run legally in CA. It's a struggle in the beginning,like learning to drive the rig and trailer then it's just a regular routine. Wish me success and prosperity stranger. 2021 and success in the future.

Your content is direct and refreshingly straight to the point however I believe you may want to look into whether or not intrastate authority is required in any state in which you pick up and deliver other than your home state. "The key differences between interstate and intrastate commerce get defined by the FMCSA. “FMCSA” stands for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The FMCSA defines “intrastate” in the following manner. It's when a motor carrier performs transportation/trade ONLY within its home state."
@DIYSEMI3 жыл бұрын
It is required. Thank you!
@DIYSEMI3 жыл бұрын
Intrastate is separate...it is regulated by each individual state at all the state level..states do require it of outside carriers not based within the state. Several states don't require it at all

Not too kind at all, it's a fact! the other question I would add on the board, When should I? the advantage is that you don't have to share your truck with other drivers, you don't have to chase the trailer that your taking and search where the yard dog drivers hide the trailer, and you don't have to deal with Compliance, safety, and fleet manager.

good point...however , compliance is more important then ever when you have your authority. You still have to do it on yourself. but yes....the independence is wonderful

I've been trucking for 45 years, and retired. I'm a sleep-in-my-own-bed type of guy, so when I found an opportunity to be home every night and gross $1200 a day, $6K a week for 480 miles a day, I took notice. This is a deal where I'd need my own authority and insurance, but equipment wise, all I would need is a tractor. And I have my eye on several decent and relatively inexpensive trucks, even a couple day cabs. I really enjoyed your presentation regarding the initial considerations and startup costs. Thank you.

Running on your own authority in my opinion is the only way to go. I felt like a slave as a company driver. You work harder when you're on your own authority but it's worth it. It's a lot of work and don't expect to get rich over night but if you can weather the storms and handle pressure then this is for you. If you just want to turn the truck off and go home and think nothing of it then just be a company driver.
@aaronautry19812 жыл бұрын
And there's more incentive to endure the burden and hard work. It's all on you and you can control your loads not the company. As long as you're operating in a legal way and not breaking laws, you can run as many or less as you want. No asking permissions!
