very helpful video thank you... Question: do you need to buy the truck first? or you get the truck all after everything is done?

what is a factoring company? By the way it was very and informative video I felt as if we was sitting in your living room and just talking about it. I liked that aspect.
@TruckingLife5 жыл бұрын
Thank you.. A factoring company is a third party company that buys your invoices\BOL’s for a small percentage (usually between 2-5%). Then the factoring company pays you within a couple days, minus the percentage.
@BradUSMCVETrider4 жыл бұрын
@@TruckingLife which is the one thing you cannot get around without having the cash built up to be able to wait the 30-90 days it would take for the shippers to pay you. You can get away from Brokers taking their cut by getting your brokerage authority, and dealing with the shippers yourself. You can get away from lease on companies taking their percentage to run under them by being your own company.. but there's always SOMEONE you're going to have to pay. But make that list as short as possible.

My husband wants his own authority. He’s doing hot shot driving. Is it the same process?

As far as I know it is. I can run hot shots under mine. It’s definitely worth getting.

Good info. I am curious how did you do the first 2 months speaking of finding/booking loads. Did you get the loads on your own or did you have some established relationships with brokers from before that helped ease the process? Thanks.
@TruckingLife4 жыл бұрын
I had a few relationships that I built as an Owner Opp. But a lot of it was just using load boards and staying busy. There is plenty of work to keep you busy just on load boards even if you don’t have relationships built. Load boards and a good factoring company was key for us to get started.
@justinlamb38223 жыл бұрын
@@TruckingLife What are some good load boards to use? Thanks
@TruckingLife3 жыл бұрын
The only one I use is truckstop. I tried DAT a couple years back but it was not as good out west. I do have a couple of the free ones downloaded but I hardly ever open them. You honestly start finding shippers and brokers that treat you good, so they start becoming your first call. Then load boards are just a backup plan when you need it.

@@TruckingLife Thanks I appreciate it. From what I heard Truck Stop is the best so for $50 a year it seems like a good investment

If it's so worth it than why did you stop running under your authority??
@TruckingLife4 жыл бұрын
For me it was having business partners that drove me away. I still think having your own authority and doing it by yourself if you can is the way to go.

Thanks, it’s fine though. I learned a lot I can use for next time. Yes! I will definitely be back. Just enjoying some home time. This rock truck job is just temporary until I go to California and pick up my Volvo which should be next weekend. Then it needs a couple small things to pass a dot inspection. But I plan on showing everything at that point cause I won’t have business partners.

What is the highest a brand new owner op should be prepared to face when it comes to insurance? Some new owners say 1700/mo, some say 2.5-3k/mo. That's what I'm worried about.
@TruckingLife4 жыл бұрын
It’s all situational honestly. We paid a lot when with Spirit and then when we switched to Progressive it dropped our payment by more than half. I believe we ended up around $1400 a month per setup.
